I have enormous respect for Daniel Rutter's insight and opinion on just about everything. Check out this article that addresses overclocking the Q6600, among other things.

Yes, he has some reservation about it but he also said:

If you've already got a 680i-chipset motherboard with a dual-core chip on it and less than 4Gb of memory and feel like upgrading to quad-core, then go ahead - as long as you're running the latest BIOS version, the new CPU should work perfectly well at stock speed, and it'll probably be happy with a moderate overclock too.

And, Kelly had mine OC'd to 3.0. So it looks like Kelly, Alex and the engineers really did their homework. Now I understand why they were being so conservative with OC'ing.

However, Alex announced some changes in OC'ing the 6600. Does this mean DS will be using a different motherboard and not the 680i?

Yah, I am gettinng this stuff. I am learning.
