I purchased a DSO desktop (Order # 7953) in Nov 2009.
The DSO runs Vista 32 bit OS with two 1 GB memory cards.
One of the 1GB DDR2 800MHz Corsair Dominator DHX died a few weeks ago.
DS is sending a new memory card.

My question is, should I buy another 1GB card to increase the total to three GB, and provide additional backup if an other card fails.
It has taken me three weeks to get the failed card replaced.
Will I get increased performance by adding another 1GB card.

Another alternative is to replace the 2GB 800 MHz DDR2 with 2GB 1066 MHz DDR2 cards.  I don't know what the increased performance would be.

I look forward to your suggetions.

Phil

don't bother getting faster ram (800 vs 1066) you won't notice the difference unless you are ocing yourself.

go from 2GB to 4GB, these mobos, more ram meas more multi tasking and even tho the 32bit can only see 4GB total, I think its easier on your controller to go to 4GB instead of 3GB, tho I'm not totally sure. If budget is a problem then go with 3GB.

I think in your case you may notice some speed difference also not sure.

I can assure you that you will notice more zip in your everyday use going from 2 GB to 4 GB of RAM even though you are using a 32 bit OS. I certainly did when I upgraded my system a couple years back. The speed of RAM is not going to make that much of a difference like DST4ME has already stated.
