I'm trying to choose between Sager and DS, and my biggest concern is customer service and warranty. The DS warranty is kinda vague, which can be a good or a bad thing, but doesn't say anything specifically about dead pixels. Sager has a specific coverage (that you have to pay for, which I'm not a huge fan of) where they will repair/replace for 30 days if you encounter a dead pixel. The sales rep at DS just told me that if my new system ARRIVES with a dead pixel, then there is no recourse. Furthermore, if there are multiple dead pixels on arrival that are not in a single group, there is still no recourse, and no coverage available for purchase to protect me from this problem.
Maybe I'm overblowing this, because I have never had a dead pixel in any monitor, laptop or otherwise, in all of my days of computer ownership. On the other hand, maybe I've just been lucky, because other computer companies are only covering this problem with an upgraded service, and DS simply will not cover it, which means to me that it is a costly problem when it does come up. I've heard lots of great things here about the service at DS, but I would like some specifics about what is and is not covered under the warranty. Thanks! |

@Afanacii,
First off, thank you for your interest in buying a Digital Storm laptop, especially since I see that you already are a customer that that you own a desktop from us? In regards to the warranty and such, our normal warranty policy is exactly the same as Sager, as we both use the same laptop chassis manufacture, Clevo. The dead pixel policy is in in our "Warranty Policy"
I will tell you that I've hardly seen any customers complain or call in about dead pixels. I'm not saying that it can't happen, but, if it's a big deal, it should fall in our warranty policy and we should be able to take care of you. If you would like a dead pixel policy guarantee, we can do that for you for $69. Just sent me an email after you place your order ([email protected]) with your order number and the price I quoted you.
