im dead set on a decent gaming laptop.
my budget hits the 1500 mark.
now i want to be able to play wow/sc2 at almost maximum settings.
I was wondering if some of you pros can compare laptops for me. ( im ready to order either of the 2 within the next few days.
Id like to know about any reviews about the DS laptops, i cant find any reviews on the xm15.
in a previous thread a guy mentioned how the graphics card for that particular model blows?... as soon as i heard that i instantly started jumping on new egg,
this is what ive found so far. V seems to be a few hundred cheaper than the x15, after u add a i7 of course.
Get back at me please. I'd like to hear some feed back on those too soon! going to order one tomorrow

I think it's best to get a desktop to play SC2 on ultra settings espically when you engage in big battles.
I have the DS xm15 with a GeForce GT330M instead of GT425M, Intel Core i5 2.4 Ghz, and 6 GB of DDR3 ram.
I can play SC2 on ultra settings but it feels laggy at 40 rames. Once the action starts, it starts to dip to 30 frames and below. I don't bother playing SC2 on my laptop anymore, I have experienced way too many wifi drops that results me in getting kicked from the game. I rather play it on my desktop.
My needs are different from yours, I just needed a laptop with USB 3.0, Nvidia Optimus with a GeForce GT330 or better (about 3 months ago), and a real number pad. I had no intentions of trying to play SC2 on ultra on a laptop. I don't play WOW, but I met someone who had the same laptop as I do but with the Core i7 cpu, he can play WOW on the highest setting in that Dalaran place smoothly.
Student in class mode:
Low power settings, wireless turned off, using microsoft word only = 4.15 hours
Low power settings, wireless turned on, using microsoft word with a little of internet browsing = 3 hours
Gaming mode on battery with GeForce GT 330m (old one, the new one is GT425m):
Balanced power settings, all game details on low for Fallout:New Vegas, wireless on = 2.5 Hours. *This was before the shuttering fix patch. Now I don't really play on my laptop because I'm on winter break.
I have Digital Storm xm15 (Clevo B5100M):
15.6" Screen 1366x768 resolution
Intel Core i5 520 2.4 Ghz - 2.9 Ghz
6GB of DDR3 ram
320GB 7200 RPM hard drive
Intel HD graphics & Nvidia GeForce 330GT 1GB DDR3 with Nvidia Optimus Technology I haven't wrote a review because I was soooooo busy with projects after projects.

The GeForce GT425M is permenantly attached to the motherboard and cannot be removed.

if you are looking to game with that budget you would be FAR better off with a desktop, if at all possible
