defrag missing?

after a boot from disk i noticed that hard drive defrag is missing. When i click on the defrag icon nothing happens . is there any way to reinstall or fix this?

look in windows\system32 for a file called defrag.exe, that is the program windows calls when you select tools and defrag on the drive properties... is it there?

Try and run it if it is...

it is vista but i opened the defender pro 5in1 software that i have and they have a
defrag 2 option which worked just fine.

OK well if you want yours back then put in your vista CD/DVD, look for the defrag.exe and replace the one you have on your PC with the one on your CD/DVD.

if that does not work then something else has taken over your defrag, it could be this defender pro.

I remember not being able to find the defrag tool either in Vista 64. I did locate an automated scheduling window that indicated it was to run at 3AM (daily or weekly can't remember which). I did reset the window to "no scheduled defrags" or something to that effect, but still couldn't find the defrag tool or it's visual window. As I planned on using O&O v8.6 defrag anyway it wasn't that important other than I didn't want Vista's defrag tool enabled to run on a schedule rearranging the O&O defrags I would run manually.
