I noticed it's harder to purchase parts at this time. Maybe because of the holidays or the pandemic. I'm not sure mine will be arriving before Christmas. It was supposed to be a gift for someone who's been really depressed this year. Thought it would bring some smile.

How about you guys? How are you holding up during the depressive lockdowns or were you able to adapt quickly?

Personally, I am doing well for the most part. I am a motorcycling enthusiast, have been for 50 years. Since 1994 I have owned a GoldWing, did try a Harley Ultimate for a couple of years. So my big downer during the Covid is not being able to ride with the group every weekend nor do I take any trips, and I usually take at least a couple if not more, every year.
Besides that, wife and I are doing fine. She still works, essential employee. Me, retired since 2010. Always have a project around the house or just have fun with our two dogs. Spirits remain high despite the wrench in lifestyle.
And here is hoping your friend finds something to lift his/her spirits.

Coping? "Essential" here... now working 60+ hour weeks, as of this week have 4 of my staff out "positive" so hours are going up, savings are depleted because Mrs. Snaike cannot work due to not being "essential", watched COVID take the wife and mother-in-law of my best man within 3 days of each other, firefighter daughter was just exposed yesterday where she thought she was safe...

And all that was in the last 10 days.

Yea, I am really tired of 2020. Doing my best just to stay sane.

I've been a lot more fortunate than that. I have a lot of relatives, a daughter, and a close friend on the front line as nurses and a respiratory therapist. None of them have contracted the disease, and they are all getting the vaccine now. We are counting our blessings, believe me.

That's amazing. I could only imagine how much fun you had! I never had the chance to do motorcycling but I always thought it's for free-spirited souls. I envy you.

Thanks. She will, I'll make sure she will.

It's good that you remain positive despite the pandemic. Wife should be extra careful if she's an essential worker. I salute them for giving their life to help during this time.

I'm sorry to hear about how rough this year had been for you. And for what it's worth, I want to thank you for going beyond your duty to help out. There's not much we can do but to discipline ourselves to not be an additional burden to health care workers.

Here's an article I read from CDC. It's about coping with stress and building resilience during the pandemic. I know it's harder when you're actually experiencing it but check it out when you get a chance

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/hcp/mental-health-healthcare.html

Everything will be better soon. Stay safe!

That's nice. I guess this is not the year to make our plans and dreams come to reality but to be thankful for every little blessing we have. Our life itself is a blessing.

Stay safe!

Hi all. I'm an ECMO Specialist/Perfusian in real life. So I'm on the front lines with Covid 19 since March. Its very very difficult mentally and physically. This old 64 year body has pulled a lot of OT this year with Asthma. I go back to work the next three nights and work New Years also. In my over 30 years of healthcare this is the worst and I went through H1N1 and HIV.

And now a public service announcement: I got the Pfizer shot last week(happily and with excitement). Side effects? Sore arm and very tired and it did not stop me from working 12Hr night shifts. ALL my coworkers in the Covid ICU got the shot!!! Because you know we believe in SCIENCE.

Please please please wear a mask. Please social distance. Please stay home if you can. WE are overwhelmed and very tired. PLEASE think of us. My Husband is 77 years old and wears an N95 mask in public with gloves. I have my own Covid station by the front door to change and take a shower etc. I dread bringing anything home to him and killing him. He is waiting to hear from the VA to get his shot.

My Nephew has Covid and is on a Ventilator at the VA in Omaha Neb.
My Sister in Law has Covid. She is 76 with Lupus.
My Niece who is a Covid denier and conspiracy nut now has Covid and not doing well.

The Covid patient Im taking care of the next three nights? 39 years old. No pre existing health issues. Weight lifter in excellent shape. 3 children. And is/was a Covid denier.

My youngest Covid patient was 1.5 years old and they died.

This isn't a hoax or "just the flu". Covid is a stone cold killer and doesn't give a damn what political party you are.
Some times in the Covid ICU we will drift together(RN,RT,Housekeeping,Unit Clerk etc) and they come around me sitting pump. I'm the oldest. My young coworkers that are tired or just lost another one. A safe space to vent or just cry. And then another admit with running feet breaks the quiet of the moment.

To all of you that have suffered this horror.
Me sitting my ECMO in PICU. Now you know why I like LC. ;)

May God bless you and keep you (both). My Daughter is an RN. We have been very fortunate and remained safe.

(Not)Funny how denial is not a sufficient defense.

Thank you for all you do, and thank you for a timely message.

Hey OL? .. May I share your message publically? That was very powerfully written and needs to be seen by many in my little circle.

God bless you and keep you and the family safe.. and no one can ever say "thank you" enough to you and your coworkers.

Thank you so much. This needs to be seen and understood by everyone. Some people are so careless, not knowing that they're not only endangering themselves.

I'm sorry to hear that. Truly, I am heartbroken for all of you health workers. People need to see and hear from you as we tend to be selfish and think only of our misery. Come to think of it, the misery of wearing a mask, not going out, and staying home with our dear family. I am embarrassed to even complain. Thank you for all that you do.

I mirror this thought.

Health workers should be the focus of the news so that people will see how real and hard this is if we do not believe and comply with safety protocols.

I am an RN in Boston, I have worked directly with covid patients since the beginning. I am currently recovering from having the virus. While i dont disagree with anything you have written. From what I have seen is that most people will survive this virus. The older you are the more likely you will have more symptoms and effects. The older you are and have other chronic illnesses you more likely have a harder time with this virus. No matter what age you are this virus hits some folks real hard this is a small percentage of folks. I have seen many 70's/80's year olds with multiple other illnesses skate right through, and others not so fortunate.

This virus is real, and is not just a flu. Its flu like yes but the flu dont cause loss of taste and smell. So as you have nicely said, take precautions and be diligent. I am very thankful for your work, I have been and have seen the worn out medical professionals thanks to how fast this virus spreads. We have gotten better at treating this and vaccines are rolling out. So we all need to keep doing what we are doing for a bit longer.

I can completely understand the delays Digital Storm is having. From what I can see is they are responding to emails and doing their best to get our systems out as quickly as possible, while hopefully keeping their employees safe.

Stay safe everyone.

Your thoughts are welcome. A major concern to me is the after-effects one might have to endure that will affect their over-all health picture in the future. This is a complete unknown that may well take a decade or more to even get a basic understanding.

I have someone very close to me that is in her NINTH MONTH of debilitating "long haul" symptoms. The disease will not relent, will not go full-blown and may never (? ) get any better.

I am very thankful for all you have been through and still stood firm. Hard to see how our front line continues to hold, but it does, and the praise all goes to the great people holding that line. God Bless.

Personally, I think I was able to adapt to the new normal. At first, it was scary but then I learned to accept that this is really happening whether we like it or not. So I had to be adaptive or else, what? I tried to enjoy home life and I have to say it wasn't that bad. I get to have that me time that I've been longing for ages.

You're right. There's no other way to deal with it but be positive. We can't stay depressed. We have to deal with it with the proper mindset. Though it could really be confusing especially now with the vaccine.

Last 2 years I had such a passive lifestyle so lockdown didn't change something generally for me. Honestly, in some way it was even better for me as I paid much more attention to my work and my salary has grown :)
