That was fast, the reason its now $1349, is because yesterday it was a $250 off and today its $150 off, they move those discounts quick. They also had free shipping last night.

they don't make ips panels with 120hz refresh and from what I understand the 120hz monitors are not really 120hz either.

There are no true 120Hz TVs, they're all 60Hz or less and any that list higher just use motion interpolation to try to make motion more fluid.

There are 120Hz monitors though, however you're limited to 1920x1200@120Hz or less, currently no cable has the bandwidth available for 2560x1600@120Hz.

And to answer Benson's question, a monitor will not cap a game's frame rate by any means, but it can only display as many of them a second as it's refresh rate, so you're not going to see all the frames if you have over 60 FPS on a 60Hz monitor. It can still be beneficial to have over 60 average FPS though, so that even during demanding times it doesn't drop below 60 FPS, just don't go overboard. No sense in having something like tri-SLI 580s and getting 300 FPS on a single 60Hz monitor.

I found out it was from vertical sync.  Once I turned off vsync the fps went way up.

IF you don't want 3D IMHO yes, it a 30", its got a 2560 x 1600 res, and its an ips panel, its fantastic.

Unfortunately there is no ips that can do 3D right now, and the max res on a monitor right now that can do 3D is 1900 x 1080, but I'm not a big expert on the subject.

Did everyone order theirs from Dell directly? Amazon has it listed for that 1100sh price which seems to be the best deal usually offered by Dell. Think it'd be okay to buy it through them?

Watch the warranty. You might not get the full 3 years you'd typically get ordering from Dell. They might have gotten a shorter warranty or the warranty has already started counting down (I think the warranty timer starts when the reseller ordered it, not when you do).

And I've heard getting the warranty transferred to you can sometimes be a hassle.
