My gaming computer is on its way so now I'm looking to maximize my investment with new monitor(s). My new system info is below. I've read posts here, looked at reviews online and think I'm going with a Dell UltraSharp. Can anyone give real-world advice on the U2412M v. U2410. There is about a $200 price different with the U2412M around $300 and the U2410 around $500. I'm specifically hoping someone can speak regarding gaming performance. I would love to max out settings and take advantage of all that I paid for below.

Hi blankcc,
I have been using the U2410 for 2 1/2 yrs. As far as performance in FPS you will not see any difference between the 2 as both have the same resolution (1920 x 1200). I recently purchased a new computer from DS: i5 3570 CPU overclocked to 4.5 GHz ASUS Sabertooth Z77 motherboard 16GB 1600MHz RAM 1050HX PSU Intel 520 180GB SSD 2x SLI GTX 670 4GB Graphics Cards I have been playing Skyrim heavily modded and it runs silky smooth. I have vsync enabled so this caps FPS at 60 and it hardly ever drops below 60. I have never seen any ghosting in any games I played with this monitor. Here is a link that compares each side by side. As you can see the U2410 displays more colors, is brighter and has a faster response time. I realy don't think you can go wrong with either monitor. If it is within your budget I would go with the U2410. I did some extensive testing of my new rig with the U2410. You can check it out here: There is more testing results at bottom of the thread. I hope this helps.

If you look at the Amazon reviews you will find that the 2412HM has much less problems. It is the newer model and less money. Seems like an easy choice to me.

Thanks for the responses!
@Frank - it seemed easy to me too but being a relative noobie when it comes to computer stuff, I wanted verification. I'm always a bit "scared" when things seem easy (even to me). Thanks for keeping us noobs grounded! |

Spam aside, the U2412M is definitely the way to go if gaming is your primary concern and you aren't doing high-end color work or require HDMI.
