Hello all! i’m just looking for personal opinions on a custom PC i’m having built. i’m just going for a nice rig that’s powerful enough to run pretty much any game with 2k being the highest resolution. (monitor limits) i have no desire to stream, i was and am just looking for a gaming machine without stress nor worries (coming from someone who spent $1.1k on a laptop that can barely run ESO). if i did miss or mess something up, i figure i would be able to upgrade relatively easily in the Lynx case. i’ll paste below.

That rig is really fine for what you want with ONE glaring exception.

The M.2 "500GB Digital Storm M.2 Performance Series" for primary drive is a SATA SSD, and fully 5 times SLOWER than all of the M.2 NVMe SSDs on offer. Your best pick is the 500GB Firecuda to keep the budget in line. It is an absolute game-changer for everything you do from Windows. Best $80 you could spend, you will never regret it.

Good show, otherwise. I even like the monitor, and another recent buyer shopped it around and couldn't beat it by enough not to get it here.

Come back and tell us how you like the 3070 if you think of it.

Setup looks solid. If your just in it for gaming an intel cpu such as the i7 10700k would net you more frames than the ryzen 3700x and really let the 3070 fly. If you game in 4k then their will be no bottleneck but at 1440p their is a difference.

A switch to Intel would take you back to a PCIe Gen 3 platform. If you want to consider a CPU upgrade, look hard at the Ryzen 5 5600X. A PCIe Gen 4 part, it competes well with the i7 10700K suggested, even with 2 fewer cores. $72.

Totally forgot amd is killing it right now with their cpu's! I would personally opt for the 5600x get the newest thats out now and will net your more fps and most likely hold you over another gpu upgrade. The 3700x would be fine too but the 5600x would be better Ya know if amd released these cpus before my build id probably have an amd rig right now besides gpu lol

I agree, AMD is the way to go Can't go wrong with the AMD 5000 family.

PCIE 4.0 capable motherboards are great for NVME SSD like the Samsung 980 Pro's (7000MB/5000MB Read/Write speeds
