q9450 2.66 mhz chip VS q9550 2.83 mhz
Other then the speed these two chips run at are there any differences?
What about for overclocking purposes?
Question for someone from DS. How would you rate the overclocked chips from the q9000 series as far as failure rate due to the overclocking?

The Q9450 has a 8 multiplier
1333MHz / 4 = 333.3MHz * 8 = 2.66GHz The Q9550 has a 8.5 multiplier hence the higher speed. 1333MHz / 4 = 333.3MHz * 8.5 = 2.83GHz Nothing is different in the two chips besides the multiplier. A higher multiplier will give you a better overclock. From my experience, both these chips overclock really well and can easily hit 3.6GHz and even 4GHz if you have the right motherboard. Unless you raise the voltage to extreme levels or you didn't put a heatsink on the chip. It's not going to die on you because it's overclocked... |
