I have an i9-9900k and am interested in overclocking it. I recently did cinabench on it and noticed my temps got really high (94c) when running at 4.8 GHz. I know that temps are supposed to get hot but I don't know if they should get this hot! I have the digital storm AIO and was wondering if that is enough to support my 9900k. (If not I am wondering about the performance of the NZXT z63 or should I get something like the Arctic Liquid Freezer II)

IIRCC, the 9900K runs hot by nature, and tends to run hotter in synthetic tests. Do you have anything going on in the background? The DS branded cooler is made at the same factory that turns out the Corsair H100i, implying it should perform like that.

Remember the silicone lottery comes into play, and you might not have a great candidate for overclocking. For gaming, the CPU performs just fine at stock IMHO, with a turbo to 5GHz.

You could try replacing the thermal paste and see if that helps.

I didn't have any tasks running in the background. And I'll try re-applying some thermal paste. Ty!

Seem like you had the same thought I did which was reapply the thermal paste.

Let us know if it helps at all.
