Hey all,
I'm very interested in purchasing a x17 level 3 laptop. I'm keen to desktops but as I am about to head to University I figure that I should have a laptop to bring to classes; also, with the family moving a laptop would be much more convenient (can bring laptop to play with friends in my old town). That being said, I have a few questions about the laptop. First of all, I would like to be able to hook up my laptop to my current monitors, keyboard, mouse and audio system. This is a non-issue except I use an Astro A40 headset w/ mixamp- connected to my computer via a TOSLINK optical cable + USB. Unfortunately, it seems that laptops do not typically offer a TOSLINK port. However, it does offer an S/PDIF output jack. It seems the best way to deal with this is to get a 3.5mm SPDIF to TOSLINK Optical cable. Firstly, will this work? Secondly, will my sound quality suffer? This will be my last chance for a good while to get a computer. While I don't expect this computer to run every game on high for the next couple of years I would like to be comfortable that my computer will be able to handle most games in the upcoming years. I'm not that technically minded, so if anyone knows I would really like to know what kind of power I can expect from this laptop. Similarly, if any Digital Storm employees would be able to tell me when I could expect the next "line" of laptops to come that would be much appreciated. I'm not going to wait until the next line comes to order it, but if I can get a better computer for the same price for waiting a couple of weeks I would love to know about it. It would be a bummer to order this laptop and receive it right around when an upgraded laptop comes out. Lastly, on its desktop line, Digital Storm offers services like removing non-crucial software on a computer's operating system for free. Is there anything like this for the laptop line? Thank you so much for reading my long-winded response. I am absolutely thrilled to be ordering this laptop; I just wanted a few things cleared up before I made the plunge.

Thank you for your interest in Digital Storm! We would love to earn your business.
I'm going to try to respond to your questions below: 1. If there is a converter, that should do the job, and you may loose a little bit of quality, but, nothing too extreme. 2. The x17 Level 3 configuration will handle practically anything on high settings, it's a solid unit that will definitely last you a long time. 3. There aren't any new models coming out for a long time, we just recently announced these Sandy Bridge based units a few months ago. 4. We don't offer anything like that on the laptops because they already come with all of the non-crucial stuff.
You're most welcome! |
