Topic: Digital Storm ODE-Ultimate Review Posted: 25 Jun 2011 at 4:57pm |
Wow, I have been following Digital Storm for about 4 years now ready to order then deciding not to order many times over! I kept visiting the site and recently saw something that should have been done a long time ago. A well priced computer line with great performance components to boot! I found it with the Digital Storm ODE Ultimate computer. Now I have come to Digital Storm many times to configure a system only to find what I wanted in the range of $3500 to $6000 and still not satisfied with something about the configuration so I never order it! When I saw the ODE-Ultimate it had the basic high end components I required but still a simple design and great lay-out of the case. I have had the ODE-Ulimate for about a week now and all I can say is WOW. It performs flawlessly, it runs cool and is just a joy to work with. It's nice to have the high end perfomance with the not so high end price tag. The system took 8 days to get to me not including shipping ( I picked it up, I only live 5 miles from Digital Storm) but that was not a big deal for me. I just want to thank Digital Storm for doing a great job on this ODE line of computers I think your going to have great success with it. I can recommend without hesitation that if your looking for a high end computer and don't want to put the "BIG BUCKS" out take a look at the "ODE" line, it's a winner!

mackraney23, I guess your talking about the ODE-Ultimate and yes after looking at the Xonar Essence STX online and looking at the space above the graphic card and below the CPU cooler it looks like plenty of room. The builder did take a cable from the MOB on the top rear slot out the back to plug into a 3.0 USB port that might get in the way but not sure. Maybe someone with more experience could answer that. I hope that answered your question or I am completely not understanding your question!

The reason they route the USB 3.0 cable like that is because the motherboards don't include an internal way to connect the USB 3.0 cable that the ODE uses in order to make the slot work.

They should have changed the LED's to Red on fans or cathode to blue. |

So your saying Hokinabru all the ports on the top of the front panel are USB 3.0? I can't see the routing for the cable to really tell?

so they routed the cable like that so all the connections on top by the fan controller work?
@Richsi so if it could definitely fit in the ultimate im sure it could fit into level 3 no problem correct? and if you don't mind me asking why did you go with ultimate rather then level 3? if i iv e herd correctly doesn't the sli 570s beat the 590 in performance? |

The 590 runs cooler is all, I would not notice the performance differenct anyway I'm not a real diehard gamer, just a fly by night thing! I'm more into solid performance, running cooler parts and doing everyday stuff on my computer. Just like to be on the high end of stuff instead of buying a non-upgradable Dell or something like that! Get my drift?

From what I can see YES, I have loaded COD, World at War and it kicks ass. Running about 63C GPU, CPU about 54C not bad!
Update: I loaded COD4 and it ran the temps on the GPU up to 85C, the card manufacture says the card can run to 100C (I hope not!)

I have a general question after checking out the pictures above. When comparing the pictures to the images on the actual DS Site for the ODE I'm seeing something additional which I'm not sure of...
What is filling the last slot on the case right above the power supply? Not sure if "Slot" is the right term to use but there is some wiring to it and a little red light it looks like... What is that? |

That's a switch to turn the red lighting on/off.
