I was wondering since I will be moving in 6 months from my current address and I will most probably ship my PC via UPS to my new address again since I will be flying over and not driving over and selling my car, so:

Does DSO ship their desktops's in good packaging, esp the Extreme cases which are heavy just empty and god knows how heavy they get with all the componnents installed. I intend to reuse the packaging again and again for a while.

On that note, if for some reason my packaging gets busted up when I get my Desktop, can i request an empty DSO certified Box for future shipping it myself, if its possible? If thats not possible, can someone recommend some good boxes for me the size of an Extreme that are sturdy and can be used for shipping so as to not void the warranty on my system.

Thanks.

Mine was extremely well packed - very thick, sturdy foam braces as opposed to styrofoam.  It was very tight in the box.

The packing job on my Extreme case is not bad either. It shipped halfway across the country, around 1200 miles, but the box and the system were in great shape. You can also request your system to be ship in a wooden crate --- Not free.

We have custom packing foam that we purchase for each case we feature. It helps us minimize on the wiggle room. Now it's definitely not perfect, but it's rather secure provided the shippers don't play soccer with it. As for being able to order a shipping box and foam from us, I'm sure we could do that for you. Just give us a call and we'll be happy to arrange it.

Great Dave. I won't be moving for another six months but when I do and if I need a new box, I will definitely give you guys a ring :). Thankyou :).

Do you think One shipper is better than the other in your opinion? Fedex over UPS etc?

To be honest, we've had problems with every shipper we've used. I think it comes down more to the driver than the company. Though I can't say for sure. I would say to pick the shipper with which you've had the best experience. We'll use who ever you request, but we default with UPS.

yep, you never know what the crapshoot will result in.

I remember one time playing in the yard when I was in grade school, and the UPS guy walked up the sidewalk and tossed me the package.

It wasn't even close, and when I heard it land, it didn't sound good.

I turned out that it was a christmas present for me - it was a series of water-filled maze games, and half were broken.

I have issues...Ouch
