I have an EVGA X58 LE motherboard and wanted to setup up digital sound via a Toslink optical cable. Is there any special steps to get this to work? I'm having a little trouble here.
First I bought a 6 foot digital sound audio cable from Walmart (It didnt say toslink but it did list its use for DVD,CD etc but no computer). I assumed it was toslink but now I'm not sure. Do they make different digital optical cables for DVD type equipment and computers?
Second is there any setup when plugging in a toslink cable? or do you just plug it in and it works immediately like analog speakers?
Third the cable doesnt seem to be detected by my logitech 5500 speakers, but I can see the red light from the cable where it plugs into the 5500 controller.
If someone could just post a link explaining what I need to do to get this working, it will be greatly appreciated. Sorry if post seems disjointed, but I'm having difficulty deciding what to ask.

Nevermind. there was a metal that needed to be removed fron the motherboard optical plug. Too bad it wasnt mentioned anywhere in the manual.
