Going all in on this one. And I'm not ashamed to say that I would like it to be a showcase rig for the DS crew. Just Beautiful machines they make...and I'd be proud to show off their amazing work with this one. Hope Kelly builds it ;)

My only concern is keeping tabs on the performance of the new GTX 280's vs. the proven 8800's or 9800's. I expect that future 280 driver releases may tweak any performance issues down the road as the card settles in. Please feel free to comment on that based on your experience and preferences.

I now present my evil puppy "Little Houdini".... Clap ClapClap

You only have 2 GPUs, yet you have triple liquid cooling, might want to change that.

Thats gonna be hell of a system. Im sure DS testing will catch it but if not keep in eye on those GPUs, they either love to overheat or underclock themselves during gaming. Its a power saver feature that was supposed to only turn on during idle times, but its turning on sometimes during gaming too haha...

yea i think that is true, not sure though, they might be able to do some special arrangement where they just ship the system without the liquid in it yet...but *shrug* i wouldnt know.

No worries. Had Kelly check it out. All good to go.

Just forgot to bump Vista up to 64-bit, that's all.

My thanks to Kelly and Harley!

Only one observation:
You may as well grab two lightscribe DVD ROM's just to be sure they are both SATA. It really does reduce the amount of cable clutter in the case and the price difference is very small.

Aside from that, that is going to be one smokin system.

I still dont know the difference between IDE and SATA. All i know is that there isnt clutter in my case and i have an IDE type CD Drive.

I thought IDE ment that flat broad ugly cable, but there sure as hell isnt one of those in my computer, and the cable coming from that drive is a rounded type cable that has XFX all over it....Did my Mobo come with a rounded cable automatically?

There are rounded cables available on they market and they are considerably less bulky, though still larger than a SATA connection. I paid for the "rounded cables" option myself, and my IDE drive was connected with the IDE connector that comes packaged with the 680i. This may vary by motherboard, but if you want to be certain, the SATA connection is the best bet.

Excellent point Ty....noted...

Looking forward to sharing a few pics and benchmarks with you guys on arrival. I'm extremely patient with this build and feel like renting an Abrams tank to deliver it to me instead of UPS....but more on that later....

Happy 4th!

Happy 4th Costone. Smile

If no one else has yet mentioned this, upgrading the shipping from ground to air on a rig this expensive is well worth it if you are having this system shipped more than a couple of states IMO. Less stops, less wear and tear. Wink

By default DS will ship the puppy via FedEx based on the required travel distance. Good policy! I can almost see it now...wearing a facemask and being handled by armed guards on a wheelbarrow...

...ok, back to sanitizing and enemizing my home and all it's occupants...Censored
