I had some questions about some components involved in my DS build, and I decided to ask DigitalStorm's live chat and iBuyPower's live chat the same general questions, hoping to compare the answers.  The results were interesting.

Me:
What is the difference between a 16mb cache HDD and a 32mb cache?

DS:
*chuckle* in all seriousness though 16 over 32, you're not going to notice any difference
it's mostly just a marketing strategy companies use to try and have people spend a bit more on those larger cache drives
anything over 8MB isn't going to be noticable, until you start to get into drives with quite large of cache sizes.... 1-4GB of drive cache

iBP:
sure
yes
go with the 32mb cache
faster

Me:
I was also told that overclocking the processor is not worth it and unstable, even though the customize page claims otherwise?

DS:
actually, OC the processor is actually recommended, especially with these new P67 cpus.  higher, more stable speeds that produce less heat and use less power.
sure it will reduce the life of the chip, but I'm sure you're going to want a new system before 15 years :)

iBP:
no
we never really recommend oc unless you really need to set your core-clock speed on your processor faster than is needed

Me:
What about my video card, wouldn't I get better FPS?

DS:
the thing you DON'T want us to do is OC the GPUs.
that will cause stability problems, for sure
if you'd like an OC video card, we have EVGA models for like $20 more, that comes factory OC from them with lifetime warranties directly though them

iBP:
reason not to:  stresses out the cpu

I was very impressed with DS customer support, and will definitely buy from them in the near future.  They care about their customers.

But to clarify, tho cache makes very little difference, don't think that a 16mb cache drive is as fast a 32mb cache drive or a 64mb cache drive, it depends on the drive, not the cache, for example you gonna have a hard time finding a 1TB hdd that has the same speed as the 1TB black caviar 64mb cache version.

So in short don't just look at cache, you need to look at the drive as whole and compare difference in case by case basis.

There are many reasons why we love DS, customer service is one of many.
