Topic: Direct 11x & WoW help needed Posted: 11 Dec 2010 at 10:37am |
So i was reading through this article. And with my build it seems im missing out on some serious performance gains from direct11x.
However im not all that cpu savy. So i need some help in setting it up to work with my DS GTX580 system.
Basically it says something about opening up a wtf file and adding a line. No idea how to do that some help and advise would be greatly appreciated.

go to the directory where wow is installed, look for the folder "wft", in side that folder you will find a file called "config.wtf", open that file and add a link and put this txt in it:
SET gxApi "d3d11" save and close the config file. or right click the shortcut for the game and go to the "shortcut" tab and in there where is says "target", you will see a path to the exe file, at the end of that path you will see "patch\some file name.exe", after that you want to add a space and this txt "-d3d11" so it would look like this: "patch of game folder\some file name.exe" -d3d11 so notice after the full path and file, we enter one space and then -d3d11 then you apply and ok and exit, now you want to run this game from the shortcut you just modified. if you have any problems ask and I will help. |

I just started playing WoW again and did this yesterday. I didn't really notice anything.

Don't use Wordpad. Use Notepad. Wordpad puts all kinds of formatting characters in the file (font, size, etc.) while Notepad just places the actual text you type in the file.

You won't see a lot of changes, DX11 as far as I am aware is still not fully supported by WoW and that it is still in its testing phases for the game.

Word pad is fine as long as you dont save the file with the .rtf format. .txt or the MS DOS txt format is fine.
