Hey, one of my friends just bought a PC from another one of my friends for dirt cheap, its not super good but he figured it would be worth the price our friend charged him.

He asked me if it was worth keeping, or if he should just sell it. (note) it is the only computer he has ATM, so he said he would like to keep it around unless he cant get any use out of it. I figured id ask for your opinions.

heres a copy of the specs.

Case- XionOnyx 301
Power supply- 420 watt (unknown maker)
CPU- AMD AthlonII X2 245
GPU- Nvidia Geforce 9800GT 512
Motherboard- Asus AMD 760g
RAM- 2GB (unknown)
Hard drive- 320GB
OS- Windows Vista home basic 64

Thats about all the info I got. I told him I figured it was worth keeping because he didn't pay over $200 for it all. And I figured it would probably do what he wants for awhile at least. But figured Id ask do to the very small PS. He told me he just wants to play Call of Duty 4 and Elder scrolls 4 Oblivion. So we wer wundering what kind of FPS he should expect, or if the PS would even hold up long enough for it to matter. 420watts is cutting it close lol.

His Monitor is a old CRT 15 inch, so res isn't a issue.

Thnx for any input.

Yeah, we are well aware of that, 9800GT's PS requirement is 400W so its really close. However it is already bought, So he duznt have any choice now. Do you think he could go with the 420W for now and get one of the MINI power supplys that fit in a drive bay down the road, Ya think that'd work?

Other then the apparent PS problem do you think he could get any gaming use out of it?

I mean with his monitor he should be able to do some gaming, however I would add that psu addon, cause you could shorten the life of that psu real quick if you pushing it like that.
