I was listening to some music on my system when the screen went black for a moment.  When the screen came back on there was a message that said "display driver stopped responding and recovered" or something to that effect.  Everything seems to be running fine now, but does anyone know why this would happen?

update your display drivers and check your temps

hmm...just got the system yesterday...I assumed it came preloaded with whatever drivers I need but I guess I could be wrong?  How can I check to see if they are up to date?  My temps all seem fine. Thanks for the help btw.

what are you checking your temps with?

also run GPUz, it will tell you what you got

is your gpu oced?

Checked my temps with HWMonitor.  GPUz told me I am up to date.  Gpu is not overclocked (processor is if that matters).

yes what is your driver version tho?

can you post a screenshot of hwmonitor after you have been gaming for over 30 minutes?

It says driver version nvlddmkm 8.15.11.8618 (forceware 186.18)/ Vista 64..

I can post a screenshot some time after I have been gaming for a while...although when I got the error I had not been gaming.  I was listening to music and dling WoW.

go here and update to 190 drivers and see if that helps, if not we will try the older version of 185.

make sure you:

1. unisntall current drivers

2. reboot

3. install new drives

4. reboot

well when you say "see if that helps"...this only occured once so i dont know for sure its going to be an ongoing issue, and I dont know how I would be able to tell if it helps unless this happens again.  If I get the problem again I will try those drivers.  Untill then I would rather wait and see if it happens again, just because I dont want to go messing things up by uninstalling drivers...im pretty computer illiterate so I could easily get myself into a mess doing something like that lol.

well first let me tell you that uninstalling drivers and installing drivers is not much different then installing games or apps.

second if this only happened one time then don't worry about it, however if it keep happening then try the drivers and see what happens.
