Hey gang,

Looking at ordering this monitor to go with the newer DS rig I received:

ASUS ROG Strix XG27UQ 27"

Using a 2080 super at the moment. Looking at a display port cable and was guided to this one:

https://www.amazon.com/CABLEDECONN-Copper-DisplayPort-32-4Gbps-Flexible/dp/B00V7NOST8/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=display%2Bcable%2B8k&qid=1599686430&s=pc&sr=1-1-spons&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEyRDVPOFNSWFNUT1dCJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwNTY2NTYwM0JYTzhKVlFRTEY5NyZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwMzIyMDM3M05PUTgxOUxFWFg5WSZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU&th=1#Ask

The Fiber 10m. Is that overkill? Is there something better?

Generally speaking, paying a bizillion $$ for a fancy cable does nothing but make your wallet lighter. Why would you need 33 feet of cable from your PC to your monitor? If you have a run like that, the signal can degrade, but not in a typical 2-6 feet.

Here's a handy quote from an article I read:

"While retailers may try to sell you a more expensive cable touting it will provide a better picture quality, we are here to debunk that myth. Contrary to what you may think, the more expensive cable will not give you a better picture quality. DisplayPort uses packetized data, similar to USB and Ethernet, to send digital display and audio data, therefore you either get all of the data or you don’t. Unlike other older video interfaces, you don’t get a “better” picture or other incremental improvements with a more expensive cable."

My $12 display port cable works just fine, but my monitor doesn't need much.

The monitor comes with cables but if you need longer make sure they are VESA cert and min. DP 1.4 (recomended for that particular monitor, DP 1.2 will limit the monitor to 4K@60Hz.)
