I was working on my DS and everything suddenly went black. Just as this happened a fan also turned on in my computer. I use a DVI monitor, but I plugged in my tv to the HDMI and there is no picture there either. I'm pretty sure it's not a monitor issue.
The computer is still making sounds like it's working. For example, if I unplug a USB it makes the noise and I periodically hear other chimes like it's working. Is there anything I can fiddle around with inside of the computer to reset things? Please keep in mind I am a complete novice when it comes to these things. Thank you very much for your help. |

See if the Caps Lock and Num Lock keys light up. If so then Windows is working and the mobo is probably fine. That means a bad video card. If your motherboard has integrated video then remove the video card and plug your monitor into the rear motherboard video port. If it works then you need a new video card.
Good luck. |
