Hi! I wanted to get some input into this build? I have never done this before, and wanted to make sure that this build was viable and would last awhile.
My budget is around $2000 I need this computer to last for as long as possible. I am on disability and it took me years to save up for this one. I want this computer as primarily a gaming computer/ movie streaming computer... although rarely the newest of games. I love to replay older games/ favorites, like Morrowind/ Oblivion, etc... I am STILL looking forward to playing SKYRIM, and haven't even bought it yet though plan to soon! Love RPGs and curious about trying a MMORPG. I also use computer for streaming movies (netflix) a LOT, and for regular internet stuff/ word processing. I am a smoker and have a cat that sheds like crazy!! So house is dusty. Dust is a definite issue. Also would prefer that the computer not be very loud. Live in an apartment with THIN walls and the couple next door would complain. Also, high noise would be really distracting to me. My configuration is: 837938. Thank you for taking the time to read and respond! |

I forgot to add that I plan to hook this up to my tv, large screen...if I can figure out how! So, I don't need a monitor in that case, but do need a mouse and keyboard. Thanks!

Hi oronodiane.. Welcome to the forums. That is a nice config and does make sense.
I would however go with the best video card you can afford, like the latest gtx 770. It is another $200 or so but will last a lot longer in providing great gaming and play most games at high to max settings. Everything else is real nice. Just for another way to go. here's a config with the quietest case at DS. It's a closed case, with sound dampening panels and very good dust filters in the front. I don't normally recommend a closed case like the 550D but for the desires you mentioned and a single video card, it'll do great. It is over budget but does have the latest Haswell cpu/mobo for about a 10-15% better across the board performance. It has a closed loop cooler, the Vortex 120 and I do like the air coolers better, but for quiet it is needed for this case. I do like your build a lot, especially with a better card. It has a great case, also the Hyper 212 air cooler for tops in reliability and the Ivy Bridge i7-3770k is a great chip. Either build you can't go wrong. My config was just to show a different direction. Good Luck |
