Hi Arkansas... Sounds like Sims 3 is a real pain.
Try to do a manual Uninstall....... I don't have that game but from others I've tried ... Start / .Computer../ Uninstall or Add game on top, and uninstall it, which is probably what you tried. Go to Windows Explorer.. Local Disc C... Program Files(x86)... Electronic Arts... and if you see Sims 3 then right click and delete. Do a System Restore to a point before the Install of Sims 3. You might try this first. If this is a Steam game, which I don't think it is, then uninstall in Steam. |

For a clean install of OS, you need to boot with OS disc in drive and select Install. You'll wipe the drive clean doing this.
Have you tried the Sims 3 forums for a fix? I do remember reading a long time ago of all the issues others had with uninstall. I'm going to do a little hunting. If I find anything, I'll get back to you.

I rather do a clean install of the OS and start over than have to deal with the Sims 3 forum again.

If you're still there..... Have you tried the free trial of Revo Uninstaller? I never have but some suggest it. Might save you a boatload of trouble reinstalling everything.
Oh, and Good Luck.

Well i did a fresh install of windows 7, unfortunately it won't let me connect to a home network. So i'm using the Dell at the moment until i can figure out how to fix it.
It might have been because the internet connection was down. Gah i forgot how much i hate using this Dell computer. I will get everything up and running eventually. Edited by ArkansasWoman777 - 09 Jun 2013 at 2:06pm |

Something must be wrong because when i do all the steps. The option to create a network location type to connect to the internet doesn't pop up after i put in the product code.
I guess i'll take it to the computer shop and let them figure it out. I don't want to screw with it more than i already have. In the meantime i'll be using the Dell. I guess this was bound to happen sooner or later. Edited by ArkansasWoman777 - 10 Jun 2013 at 6:37am |

After doing some digging around i found i have 5 hardware devices that apparently weren't installed when i reinstalled Windows 7.
.Ethernet Controller .PCI Simple Communications Controller .SM Bus Controller .Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller .Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller Any idea how i can get these fixed? That's probably why its not working like it should. |

You should have gotten a driver disk for your motherboard. Use it and that will install drivers for those devices.

It has been a while since I have done this, but is there a selection to install all drivers? Just let the system sort it out.

I thought about doing that but i didn't want it to install all the drivers on that disk. I only did the ones i needed that i was missing. |

Well after having a long blonde moment i figured out why i wasn't getting internet. I guess it would have helped me if i had unplugged the wall plug that goes to my internet thing because if i had done that at the start i would have had internet access. Everything is good now, although i won't be installing Sims 3 anytime soon.

Do you mean unplugging the modem, router and turning off pc and then initializing modem first then router and pc? If so, that's how I've fixed my son's and sister- in- laws problems. I just figured your working Dell was on the same modem/router.
So glad it's fixed.

You have the Strom trooper back. Maybe its time to bury the Dell.
Although, my wife loves my old setup.

Well on the dell it says a certain file is either missing or corrupted and to insert a windows setup cd, problem is i don't have one and the dvd thing that pops out doesn't even open at all never has so i guess theres no hope ever getting it fixed. At least my trooper is up and running again. I'm soo happy. |

Probably get yelled at for helping fix a Dell but a lot of them have a Dell factory Image restore partition on the HDD. If yours does, then F8 into Safe Mode, select Repair under Advanced boot options and answer Yes for reformat and load image. It kills all files but if it doesn't work, then why not? I've used it before and it worked good.
