Does the stock fans inside the Dreadnaught controlled by the mobo, like an Asus P8Z77 Deluxe or is it dumb fans at a single speed?
Would a Fan speed controller be a good choice? |

Yes it can be, to make sure, just make a special note on your order to have our team plug the fan into the motherboard header for you.

Thanks Alex - but wouldn't it be an automatic thing for them to do? What other things should I consider too, there's so many options and it gets confusing. Edited by armoredsaint - 05 Apr 2013 at 6:03am |

The HafX case fans, top, front and side, only turn at 700rpm and are quiet. I'd be surprised if you felt the need to control them, plus turning them down just reduces the case's great airflow. Most of the noise in most pcs is the video card or cpu cooler.

I have a new Dreadnaught with the extra 200mm top fan and it is very quiet. I also got the noctura CPU air cooler, can not hardly hear a fan unless I really stress the GPUs and then there is a small amount of noise, but that is rare for me.
I want to stress, that only when the GPUs are under stress can I hear any fans. Most of the time, I do not hear the fans at all. Edited by Nomad1970 - 05 Apr 2013 at 7:41am |

Just like other forums members have said, the fans themselves are very quiet, so there really isn't a reason to put them on the motherboard headers to control their fan speeds.

i guess i thought if it's hooked up to the headers, the fan speed would be faster if the temperatures rises. is that not the case? thanks! |

Nope, they will be static by default. I've always had great temps and low noise, so I've never changed the rpms.

Do you think then, if it's worthwhile to get the cool looking aerocool touchscreen fan controller to have the fans connected to them instead? |

I am not a fan of fan-controllers
![]() But its ultimately up to you. If you would have an extra piece of mind by having the controller, or want it for appearances, then by all means go for it. However, if you are just worried about temps, I would pass, as the HAF-X has no problems with temperature even without fan adjustments. I don't think the cost to benefit ratio is good in the instance of the HAF-X. Definitely add the second top fan though. |

I agree with Tidgxor... not a fan.
Fan control is mostly, especially in this case, HafX case |

I almost did the case thing, but I figured two puns in one post were too much
