Is it just me, or is DS forums taking an abnormal amount of time to load?

@ender - I have that same problem pretty frequently on these boards (the little icon indicating a new post doesn't show up). I've found the best way to deal with this is to click 'active topics' in the upper tight corner and then adjust the time scale to when you last visited the boards.

Yeah it is loading a little slower for me as well. It's fine at my home, but my office connection has been pretty slow since we got rid of our fiber line to the building.

Yeah been happening to me too the last two days AustinHiggs. In the early hours of the morning the site starts crawling to a slow and eventually just stops responding altogether. For me itt went down at around 6AM or 7AM EST this morning. |

The forum seems to be having problems again. Over the last few days it keeps having frequent bouts of being completely unresponsive or close to it. Takes like 10 minutes just to manage to post anything.

its hard to tell, everything is cookied now because im all caught up, but i think i figured something out about the blackboxing... im not sure how to explain it but i think it has something to do with transparency, when your past in big pictures you can see some of that grunge bluesh from the background shows up
exactly like this

Im not sure about the black box, because it never happens to me. I dont really make long responses to many things, and usually use quick reply.
What browser are you guys using? Chrome here. ps: no black box writing this |

Firefox for me.
Just click in a reply box and hold down enter for 2-3 seconds, you'll see the black box pop up once it scrolls down far enough. |

Also I don't think the bullet points and numbered list format buttons are working yet. Lemme test real quick.

just checked, it doesn't matter how long the thread is, it'll always be the same number of lines down...
I've no honest clue about HTML, but you think it's possible that the background image is still wrapping the text boxes somehow and thus setting page limits? i mean, at the bottom of the page, it's blank. black blank. but it's a type of black blank where you can still type right through it. and if you enable some sort of text color, you can see your text through it. also, ender mentioned that through some glitch the background picture becomes visible at the side, where it usually would be. and going further with that, you guys do notice that when you click reply, you can see there's a fine little black underline at the top of the page. hit enter and go down past it enough to show a scroll bar and you don't see that little black line. While we're complaining about forum issues, I suspect it's a low priority fix but entering a post on the iPhone is wonky. If you insert a hard return (a new paragraph) the text starts overlying the space below the message box (the 'Enable BBcodes to format post', 'show signature' and 'e-mail notify me of replies' areas), making it impossible to see what you type (if a message of mine is full of typos, chances are I wrote it on my iPhone). I don't know if this is an issue in full Safari (I don't use it) or just mobile Safari.

We may have to update the text box system on our forums since it does not appear to be working right.

I think I have this figured out. The background image is most likely still wrapping the text box. Just look here:
I synced up Ender's post to the background image, it fits like a glove. I also took a screenshot of a blank text box, and fitted as many of those as I could to the bottom of Ender's post, to replicate typing on a system. ![]() Here's a closeup if you don't believe how I synced it up... ![]() Alright, that's out of the way. Now, I want you to notice that by the fifth box, it starts getting cutoff. Wanna test it? (i'd post it, but i dont wanna make the post too long as is) First, hit reply on any topic. Now, hit enter until the cursor reaches the end of the text box. Not as in hold it till you see black, until you reach the end of it when the scroll bar is right about to kick in. Now, press Ctrl+A to select all of that room, and now paste it. That'll replace the current one with the one you copied, so it shouldn't hit scroll bar just yet. Now, that box is technically right below Ender's post in my pic. Paste it again (now you're on the third box down in my pic). And again (fourth box). And AGAIN (fifth box). IF you did it somewhat right, it should look like this: ![]() Doesn't that look familiar, compare how much white is at the top with where the fifth box gets cutoff in my pic. |

its transparency for sure, and the background used to be white, so the problem was always there, we just didnt see it. the txt boxes need thier own seperate backgrounds watermarked |

Here's the black text box that I'm getting, and it's really annoying. I get it on Internet Explorer 8 and FireFox latest version.

i know html and css and php and stuff... its fine for me in chrome :)
but since your working on the forums would it be possible to make the container for everything something like 75% for monitors larger than what its set at now (using javascript of course) because its kinda annoying since many of us have a 1080p monitor and theres a lot of space on the sides while images we post we have to scroll over to see within the container. |
