does anyone here have a DS laptop? if you do, how is it like in terms of weight (very important for me), power, and graphics? how long does a laptop last in life expectancy .. 4 - 6 years? .. it's hard or at the most, impossible to upgrade a laptop vs. a desktop.  
 
i may soon well need a laptop not for gaming (maybe a little, but i have my DS desktop for that), but for 3d work (architecture). seeing that DS has my win again, i'm thinking about buying a laptop from them.
 
any thoughts?

I would look for a laptop with a NVIDIA Quadro video card for the work you do.  While the 260m and 280m are great for gaming they aren't optimized for 3d architecture and graphics design.
