Hi

I have been trying to get answers about some questions i had for over a week by email. Not going so well since the only time i get a answer its pretty much generic and doesnt answer anything. But since alot of people tell me DS have good customer support, its probably just badluck.

Thing is, i need to buy a new system before july 15. I had alot of things i was wondering mostly about if it was possible to change/add couple of components into my build. Most importantly about the LC system... soo i dont know if theres another way to communicate with DS beside phone or email, trying the forum to get answer and finalise my order. (live chat would be awesome!)

Ill start with the build and tell what i would like to change/modify.

980x OC 4+ (or a 930 OC at 4)
EVGA 58x classified 3way
12gb corsair dominator 1600
silverstone 1.5kw
2x SSD 80gb x25 in Raid 0 (os)
500G HDD western digital (data)
2x EVGA GTX 480 sli
Asus xonar
Dual loop LC 2xGPU/Mobo/CPU
OC stage 3 (or 2)
blabla and all the rest

Ok so far its that. I can pretty much live with these choices.

My main problem, like i said, its the LC system. Couldnt get information about the LC components but from what i can see on the pictures...

Mobo block - EK
Cpu block - swiftech
gpu block - EK
Rads & fans - no idea
pump - no idea
res - no idea but its ok
tubing - no idea
barbs/fitting - no idea.. look like bitspower

Ok...
For the GPU and Mobo block its all good.
CPU block bug me, a EK Supreme would be great for me.
Rads and fans... first, if im about to put 2x 480 in my system, a 240 rad wouldnt be enough. 2x 360 for both loop for me... now the big question, would it fit in a case. Lian li ? unsure... never really checked the lian specs. Corsair 800d forget it, trying to avoid having a rad popping out of the case hehe.
Rads and Fans again, hopefully its some thermochill. 2 thermochill pa120.3 would be perfect, mounted with some gentletyphoon 1450 on both.
Pumps, couldnt find the info but hopefully its some good ones. Would like the info about them.
Res... hmm up to you really

Lets just say, EK for all blocks and TCpa120.3 for the rads with gentle typhoon 1450 for the fans. Pumps well, waiting on the info.

Not that im trying to be a pain in the a*$, but if im about to invest that much money, im better get it right at start and not gonna have to go fix stuff in it later cause it make too much noise, or the fans rpm doesnt work well with the rads, or that im able to cook myself a steak inside the case... etc

I need to buy that before the 15 soo.. sorry if i look in a rush hehe.

First off, Welcome!

Couple questions:
1. What are you looking to do with this computer? You've got it pretty powerful so it looks like you're aiming for benchmarking or something and then I see an Asus Xonar so I think it might be an audio/video editor.
2. What monitor setup/resolution are you planning on using?

Just a notification, you can use any parts you want in the build.. you just have to request them. Hopefully, justin.kerr can chime in and help you on the LC setup of choice. He's really good at that.

By what I can tell, Digital Storm Certified tend to be items branded with the logo that have gone through slightly more rigorous testing before being given to them. Like the "Digital Storm Certified" RAM I got was Mushkin . You can ask them the brand though so no biggy.

Anyway, good luck with your purchase.Big%20Smile

For psu here stick with brand names, for ram go with DS certified.

justin is best at LC systems here and I think for cpu block he likes heatkiller or swiftech xt. for gpu waterblock he loves the swiftech ones, I have the ek myself.

mobo block ek for sure IMO.

rads go with xspc rx or feser, and use gentle typhoon fans on them.

tygon 1/2 inch tubes show be good.

pump either laning or swiftech 3.2 will do.

I'm sure justin will chime in and correct/add anything he thinks needs mentioning.

Mushkin, Kingston, or Super Talent RAM. Pre-tested for quality, 9-9-9-24 timings.

Thx for the welcome ;)

1. Its pretty much going to be a "hybrid" kind of system... mix of gaming, real time audio, video, real time image processing, but ya... mostly a gaming build. Allready have a comp build on quadro and a mac for specific work. Me want good gaming now ;o

2. 1920x1080 x3

Thx for the notice satsunada, good to know i can build it up the way i want now ;)

And it look like Justin is the name of trust about LC system... waiting for the chief !

Im a big fan of EK brand... beside the personnal point of view, hard to say anything bad about the pieces hehe Beside the gpu blocks, never really took time to check about them, but if its the same quality of the mobo and cpu blocks, im sold to them.

xspc would be awesome... still stuck with the question "how to fit 2 360 into a case"...

thx for the tubing info

well well well.. im impressed by the choices of pieces DS is using for the LC system, almost make me wanna go let them do it on their own ! beside the rads and fans... me love silence and cold !

Thx for the info about the "DS Certified"... i can change my RAM selection!

Thx alot people, i should have hit the forum earlier hehe.

waiting on Justin now ;)

just to be clear the parts I named are custom parts and not the parts DS uses, some of the parts, like the pump or tubing and cpu block DS uses, but as for rads and fans, DS uses different ones.

I like ek also but justing is benchmarker and tests lot of these things, he is a good guy, if he says swiftech gpu water blocks gives one of the best temps around I believe him.

I have 2 rads but I stuck one outside, you can get a custom case and install 7 rads inside if you wanted to, like justin's drunken monkey.

it look like couple of people was able to fit 2 triple rads into a HAF932, HAF-X and ATCS 840... lian li p80 also but all recquire couple of mod.

Well theres always the good old Mountain Mods solution.... i need to check these out, they have quite alot of smaller case now hmm.

Hey DST4ME, great to see your back!  We missed you on the config forum!  Hope your healing is progressing.

When you referenced 1/2 inch tubing, are you referring to inside diamater or outside diamater?

Probably the ID i think. Even too, if its the OD, thats still great... the only 1/2 OD tygoon have a 3/8 ID.

hose size will have a very minimal effect, I do all 1/2 ID on my stuff, I believe DS uses 3/8" ID, the difference is very, very small, performance wise.

For the GTX 480, go with EK water blocks if possible. I am no fan of any manufacturer, every water block is different, sometimes EK has the best, sometimes they don't lol

CPU block,, the AquaComputer cuplex kryos HF is my favorite CPU water block ATM, the heat killer 3.0, and Swiftec XT, EK supreme HF, are all within 1C of each other, and are all great blocks. really won't matter.

The amount of heat that a system can dissipate is controlled mostly by the size of the radiator, and the amount of air moving through it. so small radiator with high speed fan will give you the same temps as a large radiator with slow fans.

Radiators..depends on the fan speed. silent fans are usually all around 1000 RPM and lower, best radiator for that level of fans is the XSPC RX series, up to about 1400 RPM the thermochill ones do great, Feser makes good radiators for the 14000-2000 RPM range, but they stopped making the current series, some ares till left.. they will be coming our with a new series some time.. lol

you can spend a lot of time calculating the entire system, with flow rates, pressure drop, CW deltas. ect, but I can give you a basic idea of what you need.

2 GTX 480's I would recommend a quad radiator, unless you are going 1800+ RPM fans, then I also would switch to a HW labs GTX radiator.

the 980x or 930 does ok with a good triple radiator and around 1400 RPM fans.

Thx for the info chief !

Following your advices, ill go with something like that...

930 OC at 4ish
evga 58x classified 3way
silverstone 1.5kw
12gb 1600 DS certified
160GB ssd (os)
750GB hdd (data)
2x EVGA GTX 480
Asus Xonar
Stage 2 OC

Stage6 lc dual loop cpu/mobo/gpus
GPU blocks - EK FC480
CPU block - EK Supreme HF
Mobo block - EK FBx58 classified
GPU Rad/fan - Black ICE GTX 420 / GentleTyphoon 1450 (quad)
CPU/Mobo Rad/fan - Thermochill PA120.3 / GentleTyphoon 1450 (triple)

All that build into a Moutain Mods Pinnacle 24

How does it sound to you ?
Changed the dual SSD in raid 0 for a single 160gb hehe. Look like it perform better in overall, thx for the info.

Also changed the cpu for a 930 OC... if i really need all the power of the cpu, i have other system for the job... the 980x price was bugging way too much.

Since i wasnt sure at all if a triple would be enough for the dual 480, i got a quad for them like you suggested. Thing is, do the pumps DS use will be good enough for the overall LC system ?

yes, they use good pumps.
1500 watt power supply is way overkill. a good 1000 watt will work, but pushing it, and I really don't like to push the HX1000, but it will work fine.. around 1250 watts would be the best wattage ratio under full load, with everything overclocked.

Hmm, I don't have any of the e-mails of the people in sales, I just have techs e-mails.  Why don't you try givin em' a call, and ask for James if you can get a hold of him he's real cool.  Other then that, just call and whoever you get will do a good job at helping you out.  I think Sarah is responsible for most of the e-mail responses if I'm not mistaken.

I apologize that you haven't gotten a response. I have noticed that once in awhile, for some reason I don't get replies, or my e-mails don't go through, and it usually happens when dealing with international customers and I am not sure why.

Either way, I have your list of components, and I will get you a price quote on what we would charge to special order those components for your build and as soon as I have the price for it, I will send you an e-mail. I will also post here, to let you know I sent the e-mail, this way if it doesn't come through, then you can let me know.
