Good afternoon,

i am in the process of buying a system and have looked at cyberpower and i buy power but reading the forums they have really scared me and do not want to get stuck with a lemon.  i do not know whether to custom build or go with prebuilt.   Budget max $2000.00.   thanks in advance for input.

Well there have been a few others with a similar budget that have gone with the Extreme 2 option so you might think about looking at that one.

Guess it depends on what you play/will be playing.  Do you need a ton of muscle?  Or are you good with something less powerful but less money as well?

Extreme 2 might be the best choice for you then.  I think anything custom configured will be over your budget.

Special Price: $1,946
Base Specifications:
Overclocked Stable to 3.7GHz
FREE CPU Liquid Cooling
FREE Windows 7 Upgrade
Processor: Intel Core i7 920
Memory: 6GB DDR3 1600MHz
Motherboard: EVGA X58M
Graphics: 2x SLI Dual GTX 275
Power Supply: Silent 1000W
Storage: 1TB 7200RPM

Only thing I've heard is people aren't totally sold on the X58M.

if you don't care about upgrading to tri sli in the future then extreme 2 is want you want, if you wan to be able to go tri sli in the future then extreme 3.

However the preferable choice would be 920, 1600MHz ram, 2 x 275 and 1000w psu, to get that setup it will cost you $250 more then the extreme 3.

you let me know which you like, we like the 2 x 275 cause it out performs the 295, we like the LE mobo cause it has room to grow and we like the 1000w psu cause it allow for future upgrades yet doesn't bring the noise and heat of a 1200w psu.

extreme 2 has most of those but has a x58M mobo which has only 2 pci slots, so it has no room to grow what so ever.

DST4ME gives great advice, I would recommend exactly what he said. Its worth the 250 more and gives room to grow later on. If anything you should get a great mobo 1st and foremost as well as a PSU and then that will allow you to upgrade in the future without having to replace those. Youll have a good base which you can do more with now and later. Also the 920 is a fantatsic buy. Its pretty cheap and can be OCed to keep with higher end chips that cost much much more.

Edit:

Your right to shy away from cyberpower...i bought a comp from them about 2 years ago and had tinker with it for about 2 hours to get it to turn on.....Cry
