I have always owned Dell high end systems, those computers have the most unbelievable problems and the service is another type of hell. I sold my m6400 covet in January when the video went out for the second time. I need a computer that will perform CAD and CIV 5 (out in 2 weeks). I am looking at the M15X with I7, 1920 x1080, and GTX260m. Digital Storm does not offer a comparable system (screen resolution is only 1600 x900) in that size so I am again looking at a larger system (UGH…), that I do not want. Also I did some checking on-line forums for reviews on Digital Storm products. This company does have some problems, but it seems they do care more than Dell. I did find some reviews that Digital Storm responded to very smugly, stand offish, and almost accusing. I read that you stand by the customer until they are satisfied, sometimes when you respond to a customer it is better to say I am sorry and we will try harder. I do not want to buy another Dell, but I do not want to learn another Hell and cannot go 6 weeks without my computer because the fan stopped, video does not work on brand new computer, etc... I really want to have faith, but Dell has made me Skeptical of everyone. |

@artnothing,
Welcome to Digital Storm. We would love to earn your business and provide you the best laptop or computer your looking for. In addition, we'll stand behind our product and take care of you if you have any issues or concerns. The xm15 model we offer does have a screen upgrade option for a LED 1920x1080 screen for $59. I'm sure you may have seen some of the key 'Why Digital Storm' areas, but, if you missed any: Read honest reviews from our very own customers: http://www.digitalstormonline.com/forums/forum_topics.asp?FID=15 Read the 'Why Digital Storm' thread created by our very own customers: http://www.digitalstormonline.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=125 Read our 'Why Digital Storm' tab: http://www.digitalstormonline.com/compspecialdeals.asp#3 I do wish to express that no business is perfect, but, in the end, we try to do our best to learn from any mistakes and ensure our customers receive the best product and service. A reflection of this is our 'A+' BBB rating which basically means we resolve all consumer complaints/concerns to their fair satisfaction. Feel free to email me directly if you have any other questions or concerns: [email protected] and I'll be more than happy to help!

Since I still have to receive my computer ( delivery date is september 13th looks like, yay) I cannot tell you how the computer functions yet. However the service for ordering has been excellent. I put my order towards the end of last month and if it wasn't for my bank I would have had it in sooner.
My old laptop was a dell 1530 xps system and I was quite happy with it till it started giving me problems. The sound quality was terrible and it had significant heat issues. I eventually got it resolved but it was a 4 month process. My friend has a Alienware laptop though and again it did have issues. Dell is such a large company that they can't individually test every system, instead they test a random sample. DS however individually tests every single system and hence why it takes a little longer for your computer to get to you. Dell can probably have your system to you within next week but because of the rigorous test standards that DS has, it will take at least 5 business days (if you do go for the rush order service) for them to even ship it. The only time I've heard complaints about a system being dead on arrival from DS was when the shipping company horribly mistreated the product, check their video on how carefully they package their systems and you'll see why it is highly unlikely that it will be because of DS. |

alienware jacks case designs.
the aurora is jacked from the Silverstone Raven 1. therefore, silverstone decided to have their way and piss off Alienware by ripping off the aurora themselves with the Raven 3. go silverstone! the area 51 chassis seems widely inspired by the Asus line of gaming pcs. fedex and ups love to kill systems. I sent my rig through them twice because i moved. tape was very badly torn up. and this is one of those quality packing tapes with an embedded wire mesh inside to try to PREVENT tearing. insane -.- Edited by ablahblah - 08 Sep 2010 at 4:50pm |

Really? I'd pay money to see a Dell go one on one with your shotty.
VIDEO would be better but... beggars can't be choosers, or so I'm told.
There should be a youtube channel of people putting firearms to old rigs that are causing them pain IMO.

That kind of knowledge is hard to find for free, so giving some folks here a bit of a break and getting to know them is better than assuming they should accept you with open arms, love you and give you very specific labor intensive advice for free just because you happen to show up like 100's of others do and ask questions before doing your own research. (that doesn't mean you haven't done research I'm just saying they get that alot.)
Anyway, point is give them a chance, and they'll honestly help you everytime. It's actually a nice community.
As for Dell, its like going to McDonalds and asking why you feel like s**t after your meal. It's because you ate at freaking McDonalds.
This is a steak house here, pull up a chair and let's have a real meal...

Alienware makes great computers.....its just their customer service department that is unbearable.
I dropped a lot of money on an Alienware laptop and a 4 year warranty. I went with Alienware because at the time (circa 2007) they were the only "high end" computer outlet that I knew of that did power laptops. I had a problem that Alienware took over 8 months to resolve. It was an absolute nightmare. Sending the machine back and forth, them screwing up the same problem over and over and over again. Unfortunately, a guy told me that back in the day before the Dell take-over, Alienware was a great company. they listened, gave great feedback to customers, had amazing systems and support, etc. *Edited to get to the point Edited by jerma - 09 Sep 2010 at 8:19am |
