So you were helping me out in my previous thread. I had started having issues with my 5870's. Since then I have upgraded my gfx cards. I grabbed 2x 580's (yes i know I should have got 570's but I had extra cash to burn). I bought the Gigabyte Super Overclock series (3 fans)

I have them setup in SLI but am experiencing MASSIVE heat issues. The bottom card runs at 57 degrees on peek load. The top card runs at nearly 100 degrees and starts to beep at which point I close my game. I am considering sending them back and just getting a 6990. My guess is that the 3 fans are simply dumping and recylcing the same heat and getting hotter. It hits nearly 100 degrees after about 10 minutes of gameplay and I have tried switching the cards with the same results.

Is there a fan i could get to blow out the excess heat air and just do a custom hookup to the cards? Or should I send the cards back and maybe go for the reference cards 580 gtx's

Thanks

so when you switch cards both cards on top got to 100c but when when were the bottom card they only got to 57c?

the 6990 will run even hotter.

not only did you get 580s but you also got the super clocked, bad idea on top of bad idea.

return those if you can and just get yourself stock sli 570, or 580s.

what were you expecting from 2 super clocked gpus? with high oc comes high temps and then you got those 3 fans just blowing that warm air in the case making things even warmer.

what case do you have?

I'm assuming of course you have already set a proper fan profile so that when the gpus hit 80c your fans are running at 80 to 100%.

Yes, I already set up the fan profile.

I am using the Haf 932 case. It seems that my side fans aren't really pushing that much air though. Is there a way to turn them up?

Will probably return for stock cards

100c for even a superclocked card doesnt make sense, it doesnt matter what version of the card it is. You have a bigger problem. Wether it be air flow ambient temps or what not.

Those cards exhaust out the bottom. Basicly the top cards hot air has no where to go. I would return them for reference models. I prefer Evga.

overlooked that point, good catch. Like cool just said you want the reference models that exhaust the air out the back of the card/out the case. This is more of the issue then the overclocking.

I have a friend who owns a EVGA 580 gtx reference card. Would I be able to put the EVGA one in the top slot and just keep one of the superclocked ones in the bottom slot and simply trade?

I know I would have to clock them at the same settings but would I have to mess with voltages or can I simply match the clocks with software
