DST4ME Why dont you build yourself an i7 already?

same reason I don't change my own breaks anymore, it gets old and I rather pay somebody else to do it.

besides I'm sure DS can do a better job them me now, I have not build one for a while, they do many of them everyday.

lol my last PC I build is not even in my house anymore, it was a p4 system.

my config is going to be setup the way I recommend to everybody else but its probably gonna be the roid version of it

triple GPUs, extreme CPU, probably a double or triple rad, HAF, you guys know the drill,

beginning of Feb is when I will order, I just hope there is a mobo that officially supports 2000MHz ram and can sit 3 GPUs and fit in my beloved HAF

I can't wait to order my system and get it here, its been over a year me waiting for i7 and almost a year waiting for my DS system, and watching everybody else get their own makes me want my own even worst.

@HM, I'm still waiting for everybody else to send me their PCs, when I get those you will get yours

Me wants 2000MHz ram with 3 x dual slot GPUs in HAF , I don't think its gonna happen, I will have to settle for something else but I have to wait to see how the 295 GTX does.

why can't an i7 Skulltrail come out next week?

i7 is better at multi tasking which lot of what I do, also I waited a year at least for the i7 and I want a system I can upgrade the CPU in. I fold, I test lot of softwares, I have vmware which runs 4 different OS-s for testing software purposes, I do file sharing, I build installers, I test installers, I do encoding songs, movies, etc, I do a bit of photo editing, plus helping others trouble shoot their problems by trying to duplicate their errors in my virtual OS-s, and much more... so trust me, Skulltrail i7 would be heaven sent to me

yep, I could have held off a month and gotten the i7 and new mobo etc.  But I lived for the day and got what I got and happy for what I got 

any news on what will be coming beyond the i7?  I may wait for that one...

In a couple of years, I'll see where the architecture is and decide what to upgrade.  As I said above, happy with my rig and should be able to take what is thrown at it until then.

alls i gotta say is that poll if you were gunna buy a computer is the funniest thing i'v seen on these fourms to date. and of all people to post it ! lol

I lurked here for some time before placing my order. I reffered a friend who bought & watched his process, all good I might add. It took the cooling system to fail on my "VooDoo" to place my order. Will swap out or take off the liquid cooling & place it in the play room for the kidds. As much as I wanted to upgrae to a new box, my old one just kept on running EVRYTHING I threw at it.

folding is from folding at home (FAH) or (F@H)

Folding@home is a distributed computing project, that very simply stated, studies protein folding and misfolding.

This helps to find a cure for diseases that result from protein misfolding and aggregation.

some of these diseases are:

- Alzheimer's Disease (AD)
- Huntington's Disease (HD)
- Cancer and P53
- Osteogensis imperfecta
- Parkinson's Disease (PD)

I never asked anybody to do anything to your poll, I was being a very good sport about it, I had nothing to do with it being closed.

you are very correct, I not only told you but many others that I would get an i7 system when it came out, however I have a right to wait as long as I want to buy my PC, what anybody thinks about weather I will buy from DS or not, has nothing to do with reality, everyone has a right to their perceptions, but that does not mean that their perception is in anyway reality.

as for Stanford making money and good people folding to help fight diseases, well if that is what you have sold yourself on so that you are OK about not folding, thats fine, nothing wrong with that, you just need to understand that its not the reality.

As for the points, the harder the protein folding the more points you get, so if you see people bragging about their points on FAH, they are really feeling good about the amount of work they have done, otherwise its stupid to brag about the points themselves, they are worthless on their own.
