Does it make any sense going dual 30" Monitors and have dual 4870x2 ?

for gaming and desktoip work..

And also does overclocking reduce the life span of your cpu or motherboard ?

One more thing once i buy a Ds system i can send it back anytime for upgrades over how long a period ?

you pay for shipping upgrade and labor and can send it back as long as you want.

if you got the money and that is the setup you want, it makes perfect sense for you, tho I'm not sure why your desktop monitor would need a 4870x2 of its own.

OCing the CPU does shorten the life, but when done right, like DS does, you won't notice the difference, in short you would get rid of that PC before the CPU would go. keep in mind that the warranty covers anything might happen from OCing or anything else from the system itself.

Most models of the 4870 X2 have two DVI connectors on the card, so you only need a single card to run dual displays.

You should only get the 2nd card if you need it for performance (like if you want to hook the cards together in crossfire mode). However, I'm not positive if you can have crossfire and dual displays. Perhaps somebody else will know the answer to that.

It looks like crossfire does support multiple displays:
