you can run vmware in vista 64bit then install XP in vmware that way you can run XP right off of your vista 64bit desktop.
otherwise yes it goes in the same drive, 2 different partitions. you can install vmware in your system now and install vista 64bit on it and see if your games play in vista 64bit. |

once you get the OS installed I would say yes, your first time you might have to fiddle with a couple of things, nothing big tho
If I could do it, you can do it. |

So you can have XP and Vista on the same Machine?
Like if Vista crashes you can load XP with all the same icons and such? I've always been confused about this. Like, Can't Vista play anything that was originally on a XP?

Is VMWare free? Is it hard to use?

the version I listed is free, other versions are not.
once you install the OS, its just a matter of running vmware then clicking on the OS you want to run and from there its pretty much like running your own OS. the guest OS will boot up but you will be watching it do that from your host OS desktop |

Does it consume a lot of ram or system resources? There has to be a catch!

if you have 4GB of ram you are good, I have ran xppro, win 2000 and longhorn on a host of XP home and a single core p4
during install vmware will ask you how much ram you want to assign the guest OS |
