My DS computer came last month with windows 7 and I'm loving everything, I thought it would be fun to test out windows 8 and found a good way to do it. Dual booting windows 7 and 8.

It was actually pretty easy to do after downloading the Windows 8, 90 day evaluation. Partitioning my hard drive and installing windows 8. Now when my computer boots it asked me which OS I want, if I choose WIndows 8 it loads windows 8 right away. If I choose windows 7 the computer restarts and loads windows 7. either way boot is under 30 seconds. I think If I single booted windows 8 it would be about 15 seconds and 20-25 seconds single booting windows 7.

Anyways,,,,,

Windows 8 is fun but feels more like a sideshow than the main attraction. There are some cools things with Windows 8 but I like the overall feel of windows 7 and don't see myself actually purchasing windows 8 after the 90 day trial is over.

I thought people might like to try this, easy to find instructions searching google for dual boot windows 8.

Thanks for the link and the post!

Although I personally am a huge fan of Windows 8, it is definitely a great idea to try it out first.

Yes, although most likely you will be like me, and find yourself always clicking on Windows 7 and never booting windows 8 unless you are really bored.

from what i understand you can just delete the windows 8 boot and then delete the partition you installed windows 8 on.

I think so, of course you would have to buy windows 8 and activate it, and then probably just do the same thing as before but this time in Windows 8 deleting the windows 7 partition,, but dont take my word for it, this article might help

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w8itproinstall/thread/2bf3435f-9165-425e-8ef0-cddc713650c0

but of course before doing anything like that do a lot of research and look at several different sites, you don't want to mess the OS up and be left with nothing.

Good luck

Found that W8 has a pretty decent learning curve, but if you stick with it, it is really good. I am loving it now. It's definitely built with a touch screen in mind (I have on PC, regular monitor), but I still think its a huge stop forward to W7. And with a touch screen, it would even better.
