    Posted: 17 Apr 2009 at 12:00am
I have a quick setup/how-to question.  I currently have two GTX280's in SLI and am considering a 30" monitor as an upgrade from my 24".

I know that these 30" monitors require Dual Link DVI, which I know the GTX280 can do, but was curious how the connecting scheme works.

Currently, on my 24" monitor, I connect from the left connection of the top card directly to the monitor with a DVI cable.

Does anything different need to happen if I put a 30" monitor in the mix?  Are Dual Link DVI cables any different, or do I need two regular DVI cables?

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks,
Jason

I'm not a 100% sure but I think you are mistaking the dual DVI cable for dual DVI connection, you only need a dual DVI cable.

you connect the same way as your 24" but you would be using dual DVI cable.

I don't think so, otherwise the price would be even higher

Ziegler- I can confirm you could run 2x 30'' monitors at 2560x1600 (or any resolution below that, ie a 30'' and a 24'') with that card and the standard cables that come with your monitor.

You just need one dual-link DVI cable. Other than that, everything will be hooked up the same as your old setup.
