    Posted: 02 Jan 2009 at 4:03pm
Finally decided to pull the trigger today and purchase a second monitor.

I ended up going with a dell 2408wfp monitor, cost me about $563.26 with shipping and tax and is set to arrive on the 13-15th.

Now I can set it next to my dell 2407wfp and enjoy 48 inches of viewing and multi-tasking goodness.

Lets just hope dual monitors don't disappoint me. Ouch

Hopefully my ds rigs arrives on or before the 13th, I would be scared to hook this other monitor up to my xps gen 3 lol. Confused

If anyone has any experience with dual monitors please feel free to post the pro's and con's of dual monitor vs single monitor setups.

Maybe i should of done this before i bought the monitor lol Big%20smile

Forgive me for being uninformed, but what is the purpose of having dual monitors?

Dual monitors are great for many reasons. For example, you can see your web browser, e-mail, and some other program all at the same time. This makes it great for getting work done. There are also a few games that take advantage of multiple displays. For example, with Supreme Commander you can see an up-close view of the battlefield on one display, and an overview of the entire battlefield on another display.

I just got my other monitor in today and ive got it hooked up and it works ok, however it's not playing games on one side and letting me browse internet on other.

I set the game to windowed mode and everytime I use the other side to browse the net, it deselects the game on the other side and stops it from playing.

noooooooooooooooooooooo............

So there is no way around it?

Maybe my last example made no sense so i will try this again.

Basically if i try watching a youtube clip in full screen on one monitor and try to browse on the other it pulls it out of full screen mode.

That is a limitation flash player and embedded video in general, not of using dual monitors.

Alt+Tab will allow you to minimize the game and switch between tasks if you need to browse for that walkthrough while you're in game.  Smile
