Hi there!

Is a dual Xeon E5-2699 v4 faster than one i7-8086K or i7-8700k for gaming ?

Cheers

Never saw them benched together, so not sure.   I would think the 8700 with its much faster clock speeds would be better. Gaming isn’t going to use many cores or care about dual processors.

There is Benchmark here but note for gaming

The thing is cache (L2+L3) are much better on the Xeon and the cache also has some influence on the CPU power. It makes it possible to reduce the access time (read or write) of a processor core to its data.
So I don't know

Cache does help cpu performance and allows for much faster data retrieval.    But, the programs have to be able to use it and benefit from it. Games might see a little increase in performance, some games, but not all that much from what I’ve heard.

The much faster clock speeds on the 8080k do help a lot in gaming.

If the cost of the Xeon is correct that I looked at, why in the world consider a cpu that costs thousands of dollars more for maybe a better cache call.

Cause I don't want to use it only for gaming purposes.
