How do I make sure my DVD drives are in DMA mode and not PIO mode in windows 7? The standard procedure does not work.

Click Administrative Tools, and then click Computer Management.
Click System Tools, and then click Device Manager.
Expand IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers.
Click the specific controller for which you want to configure DMA/PIO settings.
Click the Advanced Settings tab.
In the Transfer Mode box, click either PIO Only or DMA if available.

There is no advanced mode on any tab. I tried going to CD/DVD section in the device manager with the same results. I have two external Memorex DVD drives that just blow my internal drives away. While my external drives read at 13x or bettter the fastest my internal drives get to is 4x, whats up with that?????

Thanks for any help in advance.
