Hi,

I'm looking to get a new PC for mainly gaming. I'm currently deciding between the Slade and Enix. I'm leaning more toward the Enix due to the attractiveness of the case. I want my PC to be smaller (mid tower or smaller--no full tower), which is why I'm interested in the Slade.

I have some questions that I hoped can be answered:

1. Will there be any longevity/stability/heat issues with the Enix with my build below (main issue would probably be the GTX 670)?
2. Anandtech and other reviewers had concerns of stability/longevity about the high voltage/temp for the Enix. Is this still an issue or solved by BIOS updates?
3. Does the ASUS Sabertooth fit in the Enix? It shows as an upgradable option. Is it worth the upgrade from the mATX mobo?
4. Is it worth upgrading to water cooling? What are the benefits? I've read some reviews about the H80, but the temps seemed the same as air cooled heatsinks.

Thanks in advance. Specs below:

Thank you for your interest in Digital Storm!

1. your build should have zero issues with heat, we've built systems with even a GTX 690 with no issue.

2. That issue was long resolved with a different BIOS setting.

3. The default selected board is the only one since it's a MATX based board, if you order with a regular ATX board, the team will contact you to change it once we receive your order.

4. For the Enix, the H80 (Digital Storm Votex 120mm) is a great cooler, you don't realy need it for your build to be honest. The benefit would be better temps, but you don't need it to be honest.

Hi arcueid,

Welcome to the DS forum.

I am not sure how you settled on the Enix case but have you really looked at the case? I know you said you like the looks of the case. But looks are the worse criteria to use for selecting a case. This case is very small and hard to work on. Go to the Enix page and look at the photos of the case full of equipment. It has few USB 3.0 ports. Think about what you would have to do if you need to replace a CPU or to change out some of the memory. You can do it but not anything I would want to do. The only good reason to chose this case is because you need a small footprint.

I did not choose the Enix case solely on looks. I want the form factor case and according to numerous reviews, the cooling is good, and the case itself is recommended.
As for upgrades, I do not plan on upgrading the computer, so I don't care that the real estate is small.

Also, what are the Zalman case fan upgrades? Is it worth it?

You need to know that the Zalman fans are loud.I had DS swap them out for some quiet fans from cool master .The zalman fans move a lot of air . Your choice, a quiet system or a jet engine.

They're loud? Hm, I thought the description for them said they were supposed to be quiet. :x

EDIT: ah, read the description wrong...

Is it better to upgrade to 16gb RAM? Or to the 2000Mhz RAM?

Hi arcueid,

You want the 1600gb Ram.

Here is a review by someone who bought an Enix. You might want to check it out.

Zalmans are relatively loud compared to most stock system fans. I don't know how they'll sound in an Enix though, given that the fans are much more recessed and the noise will want to come out of either the back or top.

No matter what, the Enix is a really nice and cozy case though. It's not the best for the enthusiast who wants to do some modding and upgrading down the line, but for a set-it and forget-it PC it has awesome room and cooling.

1600Mhz is the sweet spot for RAM right now, yep.
