You could either save 300 extra dollars for an amazing rig but if you really want a computer now go with the x58 system. Change the power supply to the corsair and don't get the asetek cooling. Asetek isn't true liquid cooling and is leaky according to forum members. Change to either the v8 or one of the noctua fans.

If at all possible you want to go with a x58 system. Superior CPUs, superior motherboards, there isn't a big price difference between the two to start with, and years down the road instead of buying a whole new system you can just upgrade the CPU to a cheap 6 core CPU. Intel has no plans to release 6 core CPUs for the P55 systems.

No game will benefit from 8GB of ram, nor really even 6GB of ram, so feel free to just stick with 3GB and down the road you can pop in another 3GB if you want more multitasking memory. And as Gosu mentioned the Asetek Liquid CPU cooler is neither real LCing nor very reliable or very well performing, so it is not recommended.

alright, well i'll start out by saying what you already said. what youre looking for given the budget you listed is going to be really tough, especially because the bottleneck right now for gaming is all in the gpu... so consider this build
$1481

now, before you kick me for already going over budger, consider the following:
youre getting way more graphic power
the card you chose has a max digital res of 1920x1200 compared to the 2560x1600 from the card i chose. I feel like this is case closed already.

youre getting a chip that has been proving to overclock very well, so while it may be cheaper, dont be fooled by the numbers, this card will get to a high speed and serve you well based on the current reviews(its brand new)

youre also getting a free game, which is about a $50 value

I could probably get the price down another $30-$40 but only by cutting you short on hdd space, cpu cooling, and overhead psu power. i do not feel that it is worth it to try and get much lower

Keep in mind the i5 can't be upgraded to 6 core cpu, if that does not matter to you then go with i5, but just remember, upgrading cpu is easy, it will make your pc seem brand new for cheap.

when choosing psu here, if you want quality dont' go with DS certified, instead go with brand name psu, like corsair and enermax.

for your res you want to get a 5850 or 470, on your budget I would go with a 5850.

lose Asetek, its not great.

getting a new video card, currently, is a vast improvement over getting a new chip, even if you went from the i5 750 to the i7 980, all that power would just sit there and twiddle its thumbs

granted it is a guess, but i do not see many people in a budget range of $1300 eagerly biting thier nails till the day the gulftown becomes availible. just saying.

Thats because you are not on a budget, back in the day when I was on such budget pcs, one could not wait to have more power for little price instead of dreaming about a new pc that they can't possibly afford.
