Which is better EVGA 285 GTX vs. EVGA 295 GTX (both single gpu and dual SLI)?

the 295s are already dual GPU cards.

Here is what I have found:

3X285s>2x295s>2x285s

the difference between the 3x285s and 2x295s is like 10-15fps in games.

I have not found something that compares the two head to head at the same time which is something I would like also. But here is the forum thread that has two results on the exact same system done at different times. I wish they would have used the i7 965 and some 1800Mhz RAM for the test but they did not. here is the

the 295 is a dual GPU

the 285 is a single GPU

tri sli 285 beats the quad sli 295 by 10 to 15 fps which is very little. But tri sli 285 will also cost more then quad sli.

IMO the 10 to 15fps difference is not worth the extra $200, specially when the fps is at 90ish or 100ish.

now this could change with future updates and the 295 could over take the 285.
