Hello everyone,
So I finally decided to upgrade my computer. Here are the following specs Intel Q9450 Quad Core XFX 780i Motherboard Corsair 1000W PSU Cosmos Master S Case My question is pretty simple I just plan to upgrade to 8GB of RAM and Dual SLI the EVGA 580. My system is pretty old but running strong. Would these two cards blow up my system in other words. Thanks Edited by Bonoharvey - 27 Jul 2011 at 8:27am |

I think that the processor would be a major bottleneck but that psu can run 2 580's

Since you went with the 1000w corsair your gpu upgrade options are pretty much whatever dual sli you want.
In short your will be fine psu-wise, you got plenty of head room even with sli 580. |

How bad would the Processor hold me back? Should I replace it if it? How much performance loss will I suffer?

Old cpu/platform will not do as well as the new cpu/platform.
to upgrade your cpu you will need to upgrade mobo and ram too. thats pretty much a new pc. |

Ok thanks. I was thinking about trying to build myself this time. But thought maybe since the processor was still working just upgrade those parts. Building my first super computer for swtor to run at 1920 x 1200.

Well make the gpu upgrade, then if you are not happy, upgrade the cpu/mobo/ram yourself.
