I am proud to announce that Digital Storm is now approved by eVGA for their "Step-Up" program! We are also now SLI Certified system builders by NVIDIA and eVGA.

"..will be allowed, for one time only, to trade in their existing EVGA video card and upgrade to a select greater performing video card."

You trade in your old card for a new one and pay the price difference between the two cards.

For example... if you bought a card for $400 and you are trading it for a card that is worth $500. You would have to pay $100.

And there is no such thing as a 8900 GTX. 8800 Ultra is still Nvidia's flagship card.

What about those systems that shipped with a card from another vendor?

Also...

Now that DSO is approved for the EVGA step up program, does this mean that DSO will be building only with EVGA brand GPU's?

I guess this also just applies to one card?  Meaning, you can't trade in your SLI pair (trio) for another set?

http://evga.com/stepup/

Thats EVGA's web page describing the programs terms and conditions and FAQ's.  I'm happy to hear DS got approved, it's a nice option to have. :)

I was also just reading this article:
http://www.dailytech.com/But+Wait+Theres+More+NVIDIA+G92+for+2007/article9474.htm

It talks about the great roll out of the 8800GT and Nvidias plans to release a new card in Dec. that will trump the GTX/Ultra. That would be nice if true. Some posts on the EVGA forums also mentioned an update that will make the older GTS model closer in performance to the GT. So many rumors, so little time! :D I found it funny in the comment section of that article though about the naming scheme of the GT-its a weird trend they came up with making an 8800GT superior to the 8800GTS when all past cards got better in the higher numbers/letters scheme. Strange.

I also had a question that I couldn't find answered on EVGA's site. It said to get the lifetime warranty on the graphic card that the card has to be registered within 30 days. If its not then you get a 1 year warranty. Are the cards we get from DS considered retail and eligible for the lifetime warranty? Im guessing no but I thought I read a past post that you guys do use retail parts(explaining if a retail GPU or whatever part comes with a game or other freebie you send the game/freebie as well.) I could be wrong but if indeed your EVGA products are considered retail I need to register them soon. :D

Eh, so all the cards DS sells we can assume are from evga?

If not, how do we select an evga card? It doesn't allow a selection specifically for an evga card.

Just keep in mind that EVGA takes 15% off the value of your card considering i doubt youll get the original packaging or anything from DS.

Therefore if my card was initially $400, and I upgraded to a $500 card, it would be:

500 - 340 (400 - 60) = $160 to upgrade, instead of the $100.

So, I'm paying 63% higher in this case for this step-up program (keeping in mind that the higher the deviation between what you initially bought and what you're upgrading to will yield a higher percentage fee)?

I see. Perhaps I'll just buy the gfx cards from newegg in that case.

What Sunfighter said is not true.

They take your card for whatever it currently retails for.

So if you bought a 8800 GT at launch for $300 and it currently retails at www.evga.com for $220. Your card is worth $220.

"The participant's trade-in video graphics adapter must be fully functional, be in its original packaging, with all CDs, and manuals, and be in resalable condition. Should these conditions not be met, the applicable value of the trade-in card will be reduced by 15%, with the difference paid by the participant in order to proceed with the Step-Up™ Process.
  • An exception to this rule is if the original product came with a promotional game. This is deemed as a gift and does not need to be returned with the trade-in card. The participant will not be charged for not returning a bundled game. "

And you're saying because the DS machine won't come with the original packaging of the evga card, it will require that 15% fee.

However, I'm curious as to the deal DS has with evga. Evga may be aware of this, and still honor the original price.

Moderator, can you comment on this?

Id assume that since you wouldnt get a box, it would therefore be considered not in original package.

Maybe they have a special deal when it comes to cards that were already in a system. DS is part of their special program list...but again, im going by what EVGAs terms are + the fact you obviously wouldnt get a box for a card already in a computer. I could be wrong, but you gotta admit, its a reasonable logic im using. lol.

Yes, and what I'm saying is:

Perhaps they overlook the fact that you don't have the original boxing. Many computer boutiques are being initiated into this program, with none of them coming with the original packaging of the gfx card either. I think it'd be a pretty dumb marketing ploy to be charging this additional 15% to all customers that step-up from cards purchased by these boutiques. So, I just think it may be possible that evga still honor the original price.

If I find they really don't, I'm just buying them from newegg. No biggie.

Any official word?

Original packaging only applies to cards purchased through approved vendors. If you purchased a computer system from an approved system vendor, you only need the video card in working condition to trade in.

I mean, this is the optimal time to get this plan as the new series of geforce will be on it's way in June/July.

Has anyone done this lately. I ordered my system like 5 days before the 400s were released and am thinking about upgrading my 285 to a 470 cause I heard they were way better. My concern is that I don't have the packaging.
