I'm making my post a bit late, but I'm getting excited now!
A little backstory: I built my first computer in 2011 mainly for gaming purposes at the time. From that time on..when anything became outdated, I just got hand-me-downs from friends and family members as they were upgrading their computers. I've basically been working off that now for the past 10 years..and I was trying to hold off to build another computer on my own, however, with the ways things are going. It looked like this was the only choice and I was started to not be able to run games smoothly or at all. So, after long discussions with friends about moving forward..I finally decided to do a computer build, I had been saving up for it for the past five years..and I'll be using it for both gaming and work. I do a little video rendering..on the side. But, this time, I decided to just go all in, get everything I wanted without holding back...plus, tax-deductible since I'm buying it with one of my businesses! I put in my order on Oct 14th, 2021, my order hit stage two on Oct 25, 2021. I'm getting pumped (but probably too early). I can't wait to have this beast...and my complete new setup in front of me. I got new everything, keyboard, monitors, mouse, etc! I'm so excited. Here is the build that I probably went wayyyy overkill with. Yep, but that was the point, yes? 3points. The Samsung 860 PRO is not a good buy here, and I don't think you need to buy in the SATA Pro series at all. Get yourself a 2TB SATA SSD elsewhere when you need one. The 980 NVMe Pros are faster than anything else here, and one of the fastest anywhere. Just sayin'. You have no Corsair gear in your box to control with the Corsair Commander do you? |

Yeah, the idea was to go crazy with it! LOL Okay, I will call and see if we can get the SSD removed so I can add it later. No, I don't have any corsair stuff at the moment, but wasn't sure if it can be used to control the other stuff? It was the only option during the build for controlling stuff. |

I am excited about my new Digital Storm system coming too. It is replacing the 12 year old system I am using now. Only had to replace a fan after all of these years.
Digital Storm builds quality system that last! I can definitely attest to that. I feel the same excitement myself waiting for mine. |

Digital Storm Thermal Not so: Digital Storm Thermal Management Control Board & Software [+$99] The same tab where the Corsair Commander was. The Corsair Commander will not work with the parts in your system. ... fixed broken quote ... Edited by Snaike - 27 Oct 2021 at 4:10pm |

You might check out the availability of the newest Alder Lake Intel procs today. You are welcome by DS to make changes without much trouble through Stage 3. You are allowed to make them after that, after all, it's your purchase, but it might cause delays.

Okay, thank you so much :D. One question, wouldn't this control board, also not really work with the cooler master fans? (guess I can always ask DS to make sure when I call them). |

TBH, I don't know either. I assumed it would be more universal, but IDK. What I can tell you is your motherboard is so high end it will have the ability to set fan profiles from the BIOS no matter what's plugged into it.

Just for future reference, here is the response from Digital Storm: In regards to the Corsair Commander PRO on your build. It will not negatively impact your system. It will allow you to monitor your temperatures and change your fan speeds. It is more of a quality of life upgrade than anything. It is not completely necessary to have it in the system, however, it will not be bad for the system if you have it in. Edited by Alucardgnik - 10 Nov 2021 at 1:39pm |

TBH, I think your motherboard will allow all that at no extra expense. I monitor my temps with CPUID HWMonitor software available with a click. Just sayin'

So I just now got my computer at my door..and I'm unboxing everything to let it "warm-up" before plugging it in. I noticed there is a stripped cable taped to the back of the motherboard.
...am I supposed to do something with that? Is it supposed to be like that? |
