You sure about 256GB of RAM? There are very few highly specialized uses for that amount. Don't do it if you just think "more is better".

Welcome to DS and congratulations on your order. Did you special order the RAM? And if you are going for that much processing power maybe the TITAN RTX would serve you better. Just a thought although it is not liquid cooled. Enjoy. |

Thanks Guys,
Yep special ordered the ram .. and I definitely need it. I run heavy simulations that constantly hit above 170gb. As for the graphics card ... this 1080ti is a placeholder until Ampere gets launched in a few months. I was most concerned with the reported bottleneck at 64 threads when using anything below Windows Enterprise that has been reported. This has since been disputed as a testing bug by AMD. So .. now I doubly confused and considering Linux. CHeers Guys ! M |

Very cool! You might want Linux to run that monster. BTW 1: you can correct the spelling unless intentional (kinda grows on you though, doesn't it, Avetum!); and BTW 2: I understand a 1080Ti as place holder but you list a 2080Ti in the order,? BTW 3: you do know you will need very large and muscular friends when you get it; BTW 4: we love pics Love white!

If you're going to spend this kind of money on a new system, get the 970 Pro instead of the evo version. The EVO doesn't write at sustained high rates, but rather uses a buffer to store big blocks of data to write in the background.
