I use my digital storm pc as a workstation for video editing. We have a macbook pro on location and offload the data to a seagate portable hard drive. It's supposed to be able to transfer information from mac to pc and vice versa.
Here's a link to what I have...
The problem is having when I plug it into my pc the light turns on the drive and nothing pops up. When I look at devices and printers i can see it in there but it's not showing up under my computer where the other drives are. Do I need to install something to make it work or download something? Should I try accessing it another route?
Or if anyone knows an easier way to send data from mac to pc please let me know. Thanks in advance.

And these are really large files - Canon 5d hd video. They take up a lot of space.

Check what file system the drive is formated as. You need to make sure that it is in a format that both OSX and Windows will see. I know Fat32 works on both and you can make NTFS work on OSX. I am not sure if Windows will read the native OSX file format.

right click the drive> properties> here you will see teh file system listed along with other info.
after you format the drive you have to partion it. right click my computer>manage>disk management>here locate teh drive in the right pan, and right click it and partition it to a new simple/basic volume. after that left click "my computer" and you should see all your drives, including this one. |
