My Extreme 3 is on its way, scheduled to be delivered Oct 6th.

I'm wondering how this 1250W power unit is going to affect my computer room.

Presently I have a puter with a 400W pu, printer, 2 powered USB hubs, cable modem, wireless router, 19" LCD monitor, 2+1 speaker system and the occasional external HD all plugged into 2 power strips/surge protectors which share the same double wall socket.

If I continue to use the same setup, but with the 1250W pu am I asking for trouble?
Or are the neighborhood lights going to dim whenever I power up my computer. LOL
This thing pulls more power than my microwave.

I don't have many options. Maybe pulling a heavy duty extension cord from another socket in the room?

Well, dunno if this helps in comparision, but here you go:

333w - no monitor, just my rig (Corsair 1000HX) + cable modem + router
356w - the above with monitor

Now this is "idle" usage. I booted up Prime95 and stressed the CPU, and the wattage jumped to 530w. Yow!

Heh, I have similar worries about my APC 1300 Back-UPS (780w). Interesting how the runtime numbers begin to wilt as I power on the other devices attached to it:

12 minutes - computer, monitor, cable modem, router, printer (IDLE)
9 minutes - the above plus a PS3
6 minutes - the above plus a Samsung HDTV

I bet I could drive it down to 1-2 minutes or even less with everything on and my rig at LOAD . . . I'm just hoping the magic blue smoke doesn't start to leak out of my poor UPS. Sleepy
