Budget:
Around $10,000 just for tower. Expectations: Best possible liquid cooling, quad sli liquid cooled as well maxium overclocking on cpu/gpu's. 2xssd prefer in raid 0 each with around 240gb and read write speeds of 500+mbs, 2 blueray burners, the graphic i want gtx 580 evga with 3gbs of vram per card 990x cpu with highest possible oc. Highest possible ram speeds around 2133mhz to 2400mhz, prefer 12-24gbs of total ram. Also would like 2 tb of backup hdds 64 mb buff with sata 3. 7200 rpm or higher speed. Powersuppy is tricky I don't know if one psu will have enough juice for 4 cards and everything else. So help there would be nice. Usage: Extreme gaming, 2560x1600 monitor. I'm looking to achieve maximum amount of fps as possible. Hints insane oc'ing Special Needs: 2xpsu maybe Saved Ticket #: Do not have one Specifications: I wrote those up a few lines. The reason I'm not building my own computer is do to my lack of knowledge in the oc'ing department. I've built many computers, even some with liquid cooling [cpu only]. Plus the peace of mind of the warranty. As well as the sub zero liquid cooling which is amazing.

For your res you don't need half of the stuff you wrote.
but if you just prefer to have them realizig that you will see zero gains from them in games then that is fine, its your money you get what you like, I will just provide some info. first I like for you to read this thread so that you can see the 990x is not the best cpu, as a matter of fact it gets beat in games by a quad core 2600K. You want to look at 4k speeds in ssds as they are more important, and noboy has the speeds you are looking for in 4k size. highest oc is not what you want, cause it will give you high vcore and a high vcore (over 1.4) will kill your cpu much faster, specially with the x58 platform, the p67 has much better cpus that can run higher with lower vcore and lower temps. your fast ram will make zero difference in gaming vs 1600mhz ram. for gaming on teh x58 platform 6GB is more then enough and on the p67 platform 8GB is more then enough. for games single ssd will do just fine raid is not needed nor will it bring more fps. hdds support sata 3 but never use it, they can't even max out sata 2 so whether they are sata 3 or not or you connect them to sata 3 port or not will make no difference in performance. quad sli, quad sli is bad idea cause it gets beat by tri sli, so go with tri sli. With a proper config you won't need 2 psus, but I do suggest you make sure you got a 20 amp circuit in the house, cause if you do go dual psu, you gonna need a circuit that can handle it. so in short, wait for the x79 platform to comeout and drop the stuff that is not needed, no reason to put stress on parts when you have no gains from them. once the x79 comes out (Q4 of this year, tho there are rumors of delay or possible missing tech), but once it comeout, I will show you great rad and fans that you can use in your lc system that will have much better performance then what you get here. Put your money toward things that count, like great lc parts and etc. Edited by DST4ME - 25 Jul 2011 at 3:58pm |

I've see where your going with quad vs tri sli. Done plenty of research just looking to pick up a computer that has abit of furture proof. I know a single cpu solution has abit of bottlenecking with that much gpu power. Tri sli is strong enough for what I would be doing i just wanted the two ssd with those speeds for installing and read times for games. Ram I was scared of running close to max with with 8gb though like you said would be plenty. The sandy bridge are very nice processors with insane speeds 5ghz that are stable. Any suggested configs? I'm looking to buy one in 3 weeks.

Quad sli is not gonna beat tri sli nor will it make you future proof, look at people wtih quad sli 295 from 2 years ago, they are not future proof at all.
best way to future proof is to get what you need now and upgrade gpus in 2 years, future gpus will be able to handle requierments of future games, today's gpus can't meet the requierment of games in 2 years from now. again with 5.0GHz oc, you are looking at around 1.49 vcore, with that vcore you are looking at your cpu dying in one year with 24/7 use, so you don't want a 5.0Ghz oc nor will do anything for games at that res. sb p67 is great but can't do tri sli, you want to be able to do tri sli for your res, for that you need to wait for the highend sb platform adn cpu (x79, 3960X cpu). lcing the 580s you gonna want to get your own waterblock and install it on them for better performance, those hydrocoppers are not that great. look at ek or xspc for blocks for them. If you want to do the whole lc system yourself have a look here Edited by DST4ME - 25 Jul 2011 at 4:45pm |
