Hey all I have a Vanquish V that is around 3 months old. Up until now it has been a solid machine, running a fairly simple spec of 16 gb ram, gtx 970, core i5 non-k, 970 evo ssd with a 1tb storage hdd.
Yesterday I powered it on and it failed to boot or enter bios after the asus z170k board splash screen. I powered it of and it was fine on reboot. Today I powered it on again and it went to a screen saying "Overclocking failed. Please enter bios to reconfigure your system." Which I did and then exited and the system went into the os just fine. It is worth noting that I specifically ordered this machine with no overclocking whatsoever because I value stability over a small performance gain. There have been some instances of black boxing and frame stuttering while playing games which does make me suspect that the gpu may be at fault. Any ideas on how to handle this before I go to customer service? |

Could be the graphics card if you're getting screen artifacts, but could also be the ram. Reseat the ram first. If still an issue, try one stick at a time.
You could also try different System performance settings in Bios, EZ screen. You can also test your ram in Windows by going to Control Panel, type memory in search and hit Diagnose on the left. Follow directions. Also, if the system wasn't shut down properly for whatever reason, that can also cause it. Edited by bprat22 - 08 Jun 2016 at 9:25am |

are you getting artifacts in all games? all settings?? current drivers??? if you've got a non "k" proc sku how are you getting an "oc failed" error message? i assume you have a Skylake proc. did DS oc the base clock? W10 (if you're on it) has a built-in Driver Verifier app. run it and see if you have a corrupted driver somewhere.
type "verifier.exe" into the search box to find the app. Edited by db188 - 08 Jun 2016 at 5:49pm |
